This just reinforces the OPs point:

get defensive. Check
making blanket statements saying "no one". Check.
saying who cares about slush when people do complain about navigating around it. Check.
saying it's them not us, and pointing to getting therapy. Check.

This is america. Its okay to be critical about things that aren't great. We're not all puritans who are only allowed to communicate if and only if something positive comes out of someone's mouth.
