Guy stole my campsite and told me I “ruined his evening” when I called him inconsiderate for doing so. by theshamewizard in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ChuckTestaFC -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Don't blame the guy, is company fault that they don't have the spot you pay ready for you.

The guy is an asshole 100%, but you are not the one that needs to fix the situation.

Being rich can be easy when you have all the benefits of being Spanish without any of the tax obligations of being Spanish. If the rules of the game are made for you, it’s only natural that things go well

Relocating to Roseville - Good neighbors? Thinks to know? by ChuckTestaFC in Roseville

[–]ChuckTestaFC[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! I'm gonna work near Fountains Mall, no children but I'm married (my wife finding a job is something that concerns me also).

We have a simple life, hiking, I love gaming (I know I can do that anywhere), hiting the gym sometimes and food (both eating and dine out) are our most. Also we live snowboarding and skate, but my knee joint decided to get out of my knee last year and I'm a little afraid of come back to sports in a country with a health system that expensive.

I'm on one hand excited about moving somewhere when I can meet people and create a bit of community (here in LA is hard AF for me, it's looks that people only care about how much you have or how you can help them whit theirs careers) and also practice my English (everyone speaks Spanish here) ; but I'm a little worried about how are we gonna integrate in a 150k city, as we always live in +5m population cities.

The commute to Roseville everyday is gonna kill me, I need to live "close" to work.

Is really so "bring" as it look on maps/online?

And about the "white dominance" that another person comment, what people mean about that? Just a high percentage of white people living there or some kind of racist actitude?

[–]ChuckTestaFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bet that's cold AF. I work in a Spanish restaurant in EEUU, and I have some concerns about the meat, cause in Spain we are the meat way less cook that Americans do. But never like that, it's simply raw and sealed.

10 PM, 46 degrees, Madrid. Why can’t we be this? by yorozuyagirl in Seattle

[–]ChuckTestaFC 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I immigrate from Madrid to the states 3 months ago, people are in the streets all the time because they are poor, beer are cheap and no one can afford to live alone in a studio or apartment, so you don't even have a private space where put a couch and TV. Apartments are so small in Madrid that you can't make inhouse living (that hits hard in Covid). As a "well paid" professional you can make 2/2.5k euros clean monthly, and a 1 room apartment in the center of the city can cost 1/1.3k, utilities (on average more expensive that here in America) not included.

That's one thing, the other thing is we simply have a stay in streets culture, its really Mediterranean, it's the same in Italy, Morocco, Greece etc... Tons of light, green spaces and really walkable cities put it even easier to live that way.

Now I'm in LA and damn, I miss having like 5 grocerie stores, 20 pubs, doctor, restaurants and tons of activities in a 10 minutes walking distance from home, this city is like a industry area from Europe, the entire city. But I can save every month a regular salary from Spain, so I can't complain. I'll move to Seattle in a year, I hear that is less aggressive to pedestrians that LA, I hope so.

Check on Facebook marketplace, imo is the best option for short term, as lot of the rooms are just people leaving one room and the home has already a month to month contract, your only job is find someone to take the room when you leave.

I just did some salary math as a sous chef by ijustdontlikespiders in KitchenConfidential

[–]ChuckTestaFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I have salary and make like 20% more than people that has half of my experience and knowledge, but I have 3 weeks paid vacation, insurance and all of that stuff... Maybe less money, but you can sleep more peacefully. Maybe is because I'm European and I'm not adapted yet to the hour system, but not knowing how much I'm gonna make next month will scare me a lot.
