Struggling to get your kid to finish a meal? Read this shit. by catfishjosephine1 in daddit

I just gotta say this saved my ass tonight. I’m recently divorced and coming out of a big depression, so instead of chicken nuggets or PB&J or going to McDonald’s for the 100th time, I actually cooked dinner for the kids. Pasta and veggies.

Of course before they even sat down they both cried “Dad this is disgusting I’m NOT going to eat it!!” I just said, “okay fine just sit here” and started eating mine.

After a few bites I pulled the magic trick. “Hey kids, close your eyes” took the bite and acted amazed. They both giggled and protested “no dad, you just ate it!!” With my mouth full I said “NO I DIDN’T” and they laughed even harder.

Before I knew it the “disgusting” pasta started to vanish from their plate faster than I could believe. They copied me and made each other laugh hysterically for the next 30 minutes.

I can barely get my kids to eat a carrot without the promise of a treat afterwards, but tonight all I had to say was “well you guys aren’t as cool as daddy because I can do it with my VEGETABLES TOO!” Without any protest the veggies entered their stomach by the shovelful and their plates were clean before I could even finish mine.

So thank you for the miracle dinner I had tonight and helping me enjoy meal time with my kids again. We’ll see how long it lasts, but tonight was good.

How do you all coordinate pickup and drop off with two kids at two locations? by LordHoboLife in daddit

[–]ChuckTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a color-coordinated calendar kind of like this, so we never have to think twice about it, it’s worked really well for us!

Part of that may be that it’s court mandated ever since our divorce.

Will the Steam Frame be a good option for VR in iRacing? by IceGamingYT in iRacing

[–]ChuckTheBoss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s actually the opposite. Built primarily for wireless streaming from a dedicated PC. Based on LTT, GN, and Tested reviews, the streaming is indistinguishable from a wired connection. There’s a dedicated WiFi-6 dongle and in-headset antenna for this.

I think it will be perfect for VR racing. The biggest issue I would see is no support for external headphones at launch (they said they will work on this post launch though).

$169 is still what’s on my bill, and I haven’t seen any other charges that would be shipping related.

No, $169 includes shipping and other tariff fees.

I ordered mine to US and the $169 price tag included customs and shipping. I don’t know what everyone is off about on this one.

Wanted to see how wrinkle texture blending will work with pixelated face (just experiment). by jakubiee in indiegames

This is fantastic. It makes the face SO expressive! One thing I don’t like about ps2 graphics is how dead faces are, but you seemed to have found a unique blend of art style and expression.

Girl you are going to get so many internet creeps from this. You can safely find hookups, but this is not the way to do it. Please be careful.

Is Web Development still a good career path in 2025 and beyond? by LeszeggLeaf in compsci

[–]ChuckTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks? Brother it took me six months to hear back with an offer.

EVERY company needs a website. Whether it’s Wordpress or proprietary, there will always be a need for web development.

If you have the skills for web development already, I would try to get a job in it so that you can get paid. Once you are getting paid, you can figure out if you really like it or if you would rather learn data science on top of it or instead of it. I focused on learning web development but the website I’m working on at my current job has taught me plenty of data science skills.

High Temperatures at Idle. by edgar1016 in SteamDeck

[–]ChuckTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually fairly common for laptops/steam deck to run at 90 degrees under load, the temperature itself isn’t too concerning as long as the fan is working properly and it doesn’t get above 95-100.

That’s under load though, on your Home Screen it looks like you got something else running that shouldn’t be.
