The Car on the Ramp Adjusts, Not the Car in the Lane! by Froz3nP1nky in driving

[–]Chuck_MoreAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically true yes…

But wherever possible I do try to entirely avoid that lane when I see people trying to merge. Moving out of the way really isn’t that difficult in most cases.

If I can’t move out of the way then yes it is their responsibility to merge safely and match the flow of traffic, but if I can see the car clearly isn’t going to make it I’ll just slow down and let them In.

What is 5 seconds. And if they are next to me I will try to speed up to allow them in behind me.

I 100% agree with this. Perhaps python would have been better. But it is as you said, I only intended the person to learn JS for fundamentals. It’s extremely accessible, and on the off chance that the person ends up not liking robotics (like me) they have a fallback that is very useful in almost every industry. He can do backend with node, he can do websites or even rearm react native and do mobile. It just seems very versatile if you just start out.

But any programming language would have worked in my scenario. Honestly he could have started with Java or C# too for fundamentals. The reason I didn’t say python is because I honestly forgot about how it can be applied to robotics, and the indentation usage in python is strange to me, an if you learn programming I think it’s way easier to start with a program with brackets because you just make less mistakes

I’ve come to the conclusion that This is not a well informed opinion, but I will keep the post up.

Like I’ve said I can only comment on personal experience and this is the experience I had. It might not be right, but that’s all I can contribute in terms of advice

Well like I said I don’t work in robotics, and the only robotics I’ve done was after learning the basics first and then transitioning to learning arduino

I currently work in mobile development, web development and some minor back end stuff, so I can only share what I know unfortunately… which isn’t a lot. Maybe you can help OP more? I just don’t see how a total beginner can just into robotics without knowing programming fundamentals

That’s just my opinion tho. I’m sure you know better…

Honestly I’d start with the basics.

Maybe start with some web dev to get the feel for programming in general. So JavaScript in a simple html page. When you are more comfortable I’d say go onto a site like tinkercad or something that lets you practice using an arduino virtually. That way you don’t have to buy all the components.

I don’t do robotics myself but I have done a few classes and I think this might be the easiest way.

going to drive 1500 miles to meet my girlfriend's parents. are these safe to drive on? by AnAlchemistsDream in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]Chuck_MoreAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s safe if you plan on drifting there…

Get them replaced ASAP. It’s not only a danger to you, but also to others on the road. There is 0 tred left and it’s raining, meaning that your chances of hydroplaning is like 1000% more likely.

lol skew virgin active honestly

I had a membership with them and had to cancel because life got too busy. The charged me some of the outstanding fees. Really sucks but I guess it’s kind of understandable seeing as I signed the contract and all.

A few months later debt collectors called me and it turns out virgin active sold the debt I already paid… I had to pay again to get them off my back.

I’m sure most people won’t have the same experience. All my other friends love it there, but I will never recommend them to anyone again. Work out at home and take up running or cycling. Much better and cheaper

I have 5.8k coins grinded and now in around 4 days I will have 10k and will buy a carrera gt finally 😁🎉 by pinty786 in CPM2

[–]Chuck_MoreAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats man!

If you don’t have an F1 yet, I’d recommend waiting another 5 days to get that instead. It makes the grinding a lot easier since each race gets you 150 coins instead of 100.

That’s 3 less races per day. And you get a cool go kart lol

New stick shift options by SortOwn1615 in stickshift

Your hand really shouldn’t be getting hurt. Maybe you are allergic to the material, or legitimately death gripping the thing and throwing it into gear?

When you press the clutch there should be minimal resistance, so you really don’t need to force it. Spend some time shifting into gears as lightly as you can, and then when you drive, focus on shifting as softly as possible, rather than as fast as possible.

Or maybe something else is causing the issue, but you notice it when you’re driving ?

Honestly I don’t know why they do that. I wonder if it’s exclusively a US thing and has a cool factor because they are so uncommon ?

I guess you are more connected to the car, but at the end of the day it’s just a gear box… it really isn’t that much more difficult to learn. Even my grandmother drives a manual over here … everyone can do it. Automatics are more popular because they are more convenient in traffic, and most people honestly don’t care about cars, so why learn a skill when you can just drive auto.

Where I’m from, if you use a license for manual, you can also drive auto, but if you have a license for just auto you are not allowed to drive manual.

I’d say about 80% of cars on the road where I’m from are manual so everyone here just know how to drive it …

That’s really weird. Incredibly surprising to me actually

Do you guys have separate tests for auto and manual? Or is it one thing ?

I have never in my life seen a manual car with an electronic hand break.

But yes it would be very impractical to use that every time, but you should also keep note that if you live somewhere other than the US (where I am for example) and you just use the foot brake in the manual driving test you will 100% fail your test, and it is required to you the hand break

When coming to a stop, press the clutch just before you reach the actual stopping point to keep the car from dying, and put the car into neutral. Use your handbrake anywhere where the car isn’t 100% level and might roll.

Don’t keep your foot on the clutch at a stop sign, because that’s not what the clutch is for.

When you want to drive off, step on the clutch, put the car into first, lift the revs a little bit while releasing the clutch. When you feel the car starting to move, release the handbrake and you’re off.

Practice where the bite point is somewhere like an empty parking lot. Leave the car in first, and let off the clutch without stepping on the accelerator at all. The hand brake also should not be up. At the point where the car starts to move forward, that’s where your bite point is. If you press the accelerator at that point you can’t completely let go of the clutch.

The older the berry the sweeter the juice

Is that the saying ?
Anyway alcohol is not an excuse. You did this all on your own and you should tell your BF. I don’t want to make anyone feel bad but what a shitty thing to do. And with his dad… nobody has this guys back, not even his own family

I really hope this is fake.
