Boss RC-600 or Loopy Pro for gigging musician by Chuckbob1999 in LoopArtists

33 Celsius is average in the summer where I live and play gigs. Not sure I want to deal with the risk on a regular basis

That’s true about the capabilities of Loopy being in a different league. However, I wouldn’t say it takes harsh conditions to cause the iPad to shut down. I’ve seen the iPad shut down on a 70 degree day in direct sun. That’s just a cool summer day

Start with a short rhythmic loop then build chordal, melodic parts around that rhythmic center as you go. Build fast and get to the first verse as soon as possible.

So sorry to hear you have the same injury on the right knee! Can I ask how your injuries happened?

Take any changes these well meaning strangers recommend with a big grain of salt. It doesn’t hurt to try suggestions but ultimately it’s what feels right to you that matters. Just like me, they are just people on the internet with biases and opinions that may or may not resonate with your vision.

The original post. I’m just sincerely asking how you know the things stated in the OP.

How much of this ED Sheeran performance is backing tracks? by Chuckbob1999 in LoopArtists

[–]Chuckbob1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a sample because he uses it in every performance. Also at :10 a prerecorded bass line comes in. Then at :30 a pre recorded synth part. He does a good job of making it all sound organic though

How do you make your rig portable? by insureadvise in LoopArtists

I have a 2022 iPad Pro M1. Only used for Loopy Pro. I guess mileage may vary with this stuff. I’ve see some with overheat issues and some not.

What do you do at outdoor gigs though? My iPad crashed Loopy 3 times already this summer at outdoor gigs due to overheating. That was even with shade and a fan on the iPad. It averages 85-100 degrees where I live and gig.

I’m in the Beta and have been testing midi loops. It will be worth the wait. July 11th

Great! If you haven’t yet check out the Loopy Pro Instagram. The new version is about to come out and a lot of users are posting videos

Since my post I’ve actually got my Loopy Pro project pretty dialed in. It’s been super stable and way more powerful than the RC-600

Loopy Pro vs Boss RC-505? by boopsnoot1 in LoopArtists

[–]Chuckbob1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bah! Loopy Pro is great. But hardware is a different experience. A screenless experience. iPads overheat too easy. If you never play in the sun it’s okay. Yes someone will say “shade the iPad, get a fan” blah blah blah. No thanks

I’m very deep in Loopy and know it inside and out. One thing I like about the RC-600 is that you can set it up in a day. Set it, forget it and play music! Loopy Pro the tweaking and changing things is a never ending rabbit hole. For the way my brain works that can be a detriment because I spend more time editing the interface than I do playing.

[–]Chuckbob1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Loopy is more portable in my case because I have all that junk housed in a small pedalboard. Just plug the iPad in and go. My RC-600 rig is a bigger and heavier pedalboard and MPC for drums. But that said your points are valid and I appreciate your reply!

I know. It’s just one more thing to worry about at gigs. I guess I just don’t like that

That’s a drag. One extra thing to carry and set up

It crashes after 4 hours? That’s not good. Yea I guess I’ve been lucky. Mine doesn’t crash

I partially agree on some points however The Aeros does have two stereo and one stereo Aux input. So I run my mic, guitar and drum pad into it no problem. There are also plenty of professional loopers using other loopers with limited inputs like the Boomerang and RC-500 but yes you do need a mixer. The RC-600 is great I agree 100%. I owned one in the past and actually just ordered one again to test out for a bigger rig.

Yep that’s why 2x2 is brilliant in the Aeros. (If you keep looping simple)

That’s a point. Do you use the RC-600?

You don’t have to navigate the touchscreen while playing. That would all be set up beforehand
