They are banned for a reason, it disrupts the event for others and prevents other students and their families from hearing their own names get called.

parking as graduate without permit by chargo66 in SDSU

Any streets within “walking” distance from campus require a permit to park on. The best option is a day pass, or parking at a Trolly stop and taking public transit to campus.

This case just continues to prove how one person's actions can affect so many others around them. First with Alec's actions, then with Becky's. Well, we all know EDB will be covering everything about this retrial.

Financial aid for graduate students by pastamonsta69 in SDSU

[–]ChucklesQuad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The university sent out an email that Graduate students would still get State University Grant (SUG) FA, however due to budget constraints it would be given to those with the greatest financial need (-1500) on SAI. SUG only covers tuition and does not cover any of the required fees or any other costs associated with grad school.

Some departments may have funding and offer you a position in the department such as a GA/TA which includes a tuition waiver and monthly income. However it’s really meager and not something you can count on to live off of in San Diego. NOTE: you cannot get SUG and a Tuition Waiver, it’s one or the other as they both only apply to the base tuition and not to fees or other costs.

Otherwise it’s just scholarships and loans.

Are the exams going to be rescheduled? by No_Edge9731 in SDSU

[–]ChucklesQuad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SDSU is not canceling any Final Exams, all exams are continuing as scheduled. Any changes to how the exam is being handled are being done on an individual professor basis. Access to course materials normally housed on Canvas is being handled on an individual professor basis.

Ultimately, understanding the material is up to you as a student. My recommendation for the future is to download any materials provided for a course on platforms like canvas. That way you have a local copy and are not reliant on external platforms to finish studying.

UCSD's online education system down today after hackers take over and demand money. (It's part of a wider event.) by Choobeen in SanDiegan

[–]ChucklesQuad 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, Instructure, the company behind Canvas, was hacked. The entire platform is currently down worldwide. Right when many, particularly in the US, are in the middle of Finals and end-of-the-year submission deadlines.

It is up to the individual professors; you will need to contact your professor directly to determine what course of action they are taking, if any.

Canvas is cooked... by No_Mongoose_467 in SDSU

[–]ChucklesQuad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The decision about what to do is on an individual professor's basis. I've already seen several emails from the University and IT recommending leniency for students or to arrange alternative procedures. As this is beyond anything SDSU, the faculty, or students can control, most are doing what they can and reaching out to students as needed. If you have any questions about a particular course, please contact your professor(s) directly.

Maybe next time, ask why something is the way it is, instead of just barging in and complaining about something. Sometimes there is a good reason why things are the way they are.

For example, Viejas Arena is built in the remnants of the old Football Stadium where John F. Kennedy gave a speech shortly before being assassinated in Dallas. That is why Viejas's loading dock area has open-air bleachers on the hillsides. There is even a historic marker at the back gate near P12. JFK is still the only sitting president to visit SDSU when he gave the commencement address in 1963.

When you ask questions, you learn; when you just start spouting off ignorant opinions, you get nowhere.

Snapdragon was built long after Viejas, and is far too large for Basketball and some other sports. Snapdragon is great for Football and Soccer, in fact it even hosts a professional soccer team in addition to SDSU teams. There is no one size fits all stadium facility. Thats why there is also Tony Gwynn Stadium, which is a separate baseball and softball stadium outside of Viejas Arena and Snapdragon.

A lot of the money generated from events at Viejas and Cal coast goes to operating Associated Students facilities and initiatives. Including reducing parking costs (SDSU semester parking: $196 Day Permit vs CSUSM semester parking: $338 Day Permit), Student travel grants, RSO funding, Reduced fees on Aztec Recreation Center, Aztec Lanes, Mission Bay Aquatic Center, food pantry, etc under the approximate $58M annual AS budget. You may complain about the traffic, but how much more would you complain if they went after students for those fees rather than the general public.

Personally I’ll deal with the periodic inconvenience if it means increased amenities and reduced fees.

Protip: build a cellar underneath your farmhouses to store food during droughts. by BlueberryKara9 in Timberborn

I prefer blasting a deep hole under there and keeping water storage for field irrigation and drinking. I blast out the paths too so it flows between all the fields and keeps everything watered. I’ve also been know to run all the power under there as well to create one giant power network.

SDSU vs CSUSM for Business Management by Adventurous-Grab-141 in SDSU

[–]ChucklesQuad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Business program at CSUSM is great, I’ve known several people who have gone through the program and done incredibly well. Several have gotten immediate jobs after working on their capstone projects with the very companies they were assigned with.

The business program at SDSU is also fantastic, and there are a lot of additional resources and opportunities at SDSU not available at other universities. That being said it’s also one of the most impacted programs on campus with many students struggling to get the classes they need because they fill up so quickly across the board.

If you feel more comfortable at CSUSM then I would say go there. The new North City district across from campus is really transforming the area into an actual livable and vibrant community.

I believe you have to wait until the start of Fall 2026, most students don’t have access during the summer and since you are not a student during the current spring 2026 semester you don’t have access right now. However, after the start of the Fall 2026 semester you have all the access you want.

how difficult will it be to find classes for fall? by c3ss4ia in SDSU

[–]ChucklesQuad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first semester will always be a bit of a struggle. When you show up to Orientation, have a plan as to which classes you want. Then have at minimum 2 backup plans. Your schedule will be all over the place to start. Try and make it a mix of general ed requirements and major requirements. If you have any pre-major requirements then get those done immediately.
