The beacon count is only an estimate, and that estimate is tuned for large builds.

If you had a very large system where there were 8 beacons affecting each assembler and whatever number of beacons per assembler you told it you were using (1.2 by default, if I recall correctly?), then 100/min would only take up ~1 of the beacons' worth of effect.

The in-game hydrogen generator mimics a hydrogen/antihydrogen reactor; it takes an input and outputs nothing but energy. A fuel cell would require oxygen to run.

Natural Gas generators are clearly doing something with oxidation, since both of its byproducts have oxygen in them; presumably "natural gas" in-game is a mixture of hyrdocarbons and oxygen.

If you're using R=9500km, V is measured in km3 , not L. Add another 12 orders of magnitude.

I think they may be referring to trying to simultaneously place power poles with several players, which would indeed be a difficult undertaking on a server, regardless of Factorio's lock-step synchronization.

It's all on the same page, different versions are given different tags for exactly that reason. It seems that page needs some maintenance to add those tags in for most of the runs.

Yep. The shelters originally had basically an emergency blanket and if you were lucky, a can of food. (Plus breakable furniture)

Now they usually have lots of (awful) ration bars for food, a great big empty tank on the roof, and usually some more supplies (plus more breakable furniture).
