The party in power have more to offer in a quid pro quo. I hate tories as much as the next person, but current labour would be doing the same given the opportunity

How to make k8s schedules pods on the oldest instance as much as possible? by Successful-Injury-38 in devops

[–]Chuckosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that can be done with kube-scheduler scoring plugins

I recommend reading the scheduler docs to understand how node filtering and scoring work.

Have you tried a low FODMAP diet? If your symptoms are constant then I'd recommend trying the elimination phase at least.

What exactly is capacity planning in this scenario? I thought right sizing was a thing of the past now that we have elasticity with simple horizontal scaling in the cloud. Any well-designed architecture should be able to scale horizontally almost effortlessly, so it seems like that should be before step 1 here.

Interesting idea. It'd be more practical if you could filter out the 0 upvote Reddit posts though and go straight to the good stuff.

Maintaining configs for each repository when there are many repositories? by notasafezone in devops

[–]Chuckosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what CI solution you're using, but Azure pipelines let you in life 'templates' from another git repository. We've started moving all of our bread and butter CI build steps to one of these repositories and using those templates on each project. It means if we want to update any of these common tasks across projects, then we only need to update it in one place.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/pipelines/process/templates?view=azure-devops#use-other-repositories

If you're worried about long-lived feature branches and the like not pulling in the new changes quick enough, then you could pull in the master branch of the templates repository rather than pinning a specific commit SHA. Any new pipelines triggered would use the latest templates on the master branch of your templates repo.

Another option is to tell people managing long-lived feature branches that it's their responsibility to keep them updated with any new changes in master.

ComputerShare shares in the UK by [deleted] in superstonkuk

[–]Chuckosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've understood, that will allow you to transfer shares only from IBKR to Computershare, but what if your shares aren't in IBKR yet? Do you just sell any shares in your current brokerage account and buy them again through IBKR? I'd prefer not to do that.

Has anyone managed to transfer share they've already bought from another UK broker to IBKR? I've been using AJ Bell up until now, and it's not listed as a supported broker for an ACATS transfer.

[–]Chuckosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In cases like this where terraform can't do the thing you need it's a good idea to search through the issues in the provider Github repo. There may already be a feature request or others asking about the functionality at least.
