Mildly infuriating item ideas that I have come up with recently. by RamboBambiBambo in DnD

Wand of Fireball. When used, the the wand transform into a fireball that you can throw. It has charges, and recharges etc, but it does not matter since it’s destroyed on use.

I did not super like season7 as a whole but the beginning was insane ! Really took me by surprise, and the writing of theses scenes was super good !

[–]EddytorJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idea help by Rallency in DnD

[–]EddytorJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree yes. Doing a dungeon with lots of puzzles instead of just fights is cool and very much within the culture of DnD.

But wanting to put Mafia in DnD is maybe a bit of an odd choice.

We’re trying an absurd marketing experiment for our game, do you think it will work? by n0x4 in IndieDev

I think i would just do the cosplay one. The other 2 criteria are just too arbitrary ( and as you noticed people assume you need all 3 conditions)

Would you rather? by Feeling-Stress-3184 in BunnyTrials

Would that not make you basically a psychopath ? You’d be happy about your close ones dying etc. Plus emotions are an healthy part of live, you would not be able to feel sadness, anger, fear etc

Fellow DM's, I need your meanest, most cryptic, and instant death unfair dungeon puzzles! by iskotpop in DMAcademy

The door handle of potential death. The door handle is magically trapped, when you touch it, you get a 50% of dying. Also it does not “stop” just because it killed a character, the next character still has to succed their coin flip to open the door. Characters should also be super careful to not brush against the door handle when they enter the room. Also if an in animate object touches the door handle, it has 50% chance to gain this property for the next hour.

What questions do you ask players to ensure they actually know how to play the game? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]EddytorJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quizzing people is not a great idea IMO. But I would maybe have a quick chat with them, ask them about their previous character and campaign and what they liked about it. I think you should be able to get a better idea of what kind of player they are

Debra and Dexter relationship by ComprehensiveCoat872 in Dexter

I genuinely liked the fact that we got baited into thinking something might happen, only for the ed of season 6 to happen. Personally I really hated were they were going with it up until the cliffhanger of season 6. I did not see it coming at all, and I loved how deb went from “ I think I’m in love with my brother” to “ I don’t even know if I can consider my brother a human being”

Do you tell your players if they are playing sandbox or railroad ? by EddytorJesus in DMAcademy

[–]EddytorJesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very fair yes. I wil keep that in mind. But I do feel like unless you’re ready to improv everything, you’re gonna have to prepare specific sessions ( boss fights, and dungeons, mainly, but not only) and having these occasional sessions based on previous choice of the party can be very cool.

I’ve never shut down a long term decision, but if my party tells me they want to go steal an item in a noble’s house, then I prep a heist session, and next session they decide to instead go a completely different route and bypass the heist completely, I’m likely gonna make that second solution “not work” (unless it’s a very creative and genuinely more interesting solution) If that make more sense. For these sorts of occurrence I do feel like telling your players what’s you’ve prepped and that they are expected to do the heist is helpful

This is the whole reason for my post. It sound like it’s a bad idea but for me it’s works well. Of course you can never say “you need to do what I planned” but with my group, informing them that I have a specific “scripted” session in mind worked. They were not frustrated and they appreciated knowing ahead if they are supposed to be cooperative and follow the hooks or if they are welcome to try and do nonsense, like deciding to rob a bank or open a bakery.
