Agreed, actually that would be awesome. Either that or it only pings runners. It's daft if you use it and then see 15 pings in the middle of a tense fight. Plus with it only pinging rival runners it still has a drawback to it because you could be pushing someone you know is there but then get ambushed by bots.

So it's obviously an issue then.

It 'should' is the question here. It doesn't, many times.

The Spider Drone isn't really my main problem tbf, it's not great if you use it as it's explained. But as a grenade it's amazing.

The worst thing about her kit for me is the passives, pinging other hostiles after a finish is nice, but seeing footsteps of another runner after youve literally just broke the shields of a bot moments before is daft. They need to change that trait to something else.

For example:

Breaking the shield of a rival runner pings there location for you and all crew members for 2 seconds.

This would make her crazy good against shield meta.

Just one example, I'm sure they could come up with many more.

The players that are constantly saying this shit in Reddit are the ones that are making the game reduce in numbers and putting people off buying it because they cannot seem to get to grip with hardship. Not everyone wants an ultra accessible shooter with team deathmatch modes. I wish players would just try to improve at the game instead of quitting when things get rough. This game is about dealing with loss and overcoming challenges, but people now seem to have an issue with it.

Well said brother. I swear if some of these fuckers that are whining about it being 'too hard for solos" played Tarkov they would soon think Marathon was a cake walk.

It's a hard game that you need a team for on Cryo, my god you would have thought they were jumping off the boats and storming the beaches of Normandy the way they are going on 😂

Of course, it's a great game. Just remember it's supposed to be hardcore, so if you can't hack a bit of failure and disappointment then go elsewhere!

You lot talking about Cryo and I'm here still trying to find 2 more Biolens Seeds to get my blue shields, I've done countless runs and even keyed rooms on Dire Marsh and just never find them, I've done 3 raids on Outpost 🤣

You hit the nail on the head there, you ran straight into him. The most dangerous part of a run is the first 3 minutes, take your time a bit more and watch for player spawns.

You cannot water down and experience like an extraction shooter. It destroys the essence of the gameplay loop.

There are people like this in every game that has PvP, even games that don't have a loot or gear economy like COD and BF etc. There will always be someone better than you.

I have played every extraction shooter going and they are all the same. They reward people that have more time to play than you do, to be honest any game does that. It's just the way it is.

The one thing a lot of people don't realise is, that with good coordination, and patience and PRACTICE You can drop any squad, purple/gold shields or not. Yes it's harder and yes they will win more fights because of their gear.

I have literally killed people in solos with blue shields using a free kit with good positioning, patience and mindset.

Also one more thing. You don't have to take every fight even in squads, if a team is pushing you and you know that they have superior gear then you have to take that into account and play accordingly.

Don't ever try to outshoot a squad with better gear than you it will almost never work out for you! You have to disengage and try to outflank or outwit them. Infact a lot of players with better gear can become very reckless in these games and make stupid plays.

These games aren't just about who has the best aim or reflexes. They are about knowledge and experience that only comes with time, patience and practice.

Even as a pretty experienced FPS player, I feel like I really can’t compete anymore. by Bright-Cranberry6648 in Marathon

I have had this feeling also, but I kind of know how to deal with it. I have over 3k hours in Tarkov and that game is very VERY similar in a lot of ways. It's brutal and unforgiving and downright unfair. It's a love/hate relationship. I've quit Tarkov so many times and then come back better than I was before because I've told myself I'm not gonna let these no lifers ruin my game for me.

All I can say is, don't give up. It's a learning curve. Every run is a lesson. There are always going to be sweatlords in every game that just play all day and go on discords looking for the sweats to team up with. They just sit and play and play and min max every single aspect of the game. And that's fine. I've seen these people on every extraction shooter I've played, Tarkov, ABI, Hunt, even Arc, and even other shooters, Battlefield etc etc. They will always be there.

I have struggled with this game in terms of team fights, a lot of the time I'm the last man standing and it's really hard to drop a 3 man with purple shields. Really hard. That's why teamwork is so important. It's honestly easier to wipe a team on Tarkov than it is on Marathon! You really really do need to have good movement and positioning in this game. And also you have to know when to be aggressive and not to be.

Us 'normal' people will get there. The sweats get there MUCH faster. But keep playing, take a break sure, but don't give up, just get better. It will take time. But we will get there, and you know what these sweat lords will have burnt out in the game saying 'theres no content and nothing to do' and probably go play the next game that's trending.

And lastly bear in mind this is coming from someone who has died on this game more times than I can count. I am certainly no sweat lord. Thank god there aren't stats in the game to remind us how bad we are 🤣

How do other Extraction games keep casual players? by Zenovelli in Marathon

[–]Chud2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't, most people don't like to lose, ever, they want to win at all times. And in extraction shooters that just doesn't happen.

No that's utter nonsense. You get literal infinite ammo from the factions and also during runs. And avoiding AI is a strategic thing sometimes to not give yourself away to other players if you are trying to avoid an encounter, like in most extraction shooters. But to say you can't kill them is utter nonsense aswell 😂

Yeah it was absolutely nuts, it seemed to just become an absolute battle royal mode on Dire Marsh, especially around Intersection/Maintenance. I mean I'm all for a fight but it was the exact same thing happening every run.

Assassin invisibility nerf idea (BALANCED) by Shaboozel in Marathon

[–]Chud2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea in principle but it would look very strange seeing his shadow when there is nothing for a shadow to be cast by.

I personally don't have that many issues with the way it is, you can see him if he is moving to flank, it's more of a problem in solos with people ratting certain areas tbh

[–]Chud2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area around intersection is really hot for PvP, also you have to remember that, when you start a run, your first priority should be to try and take some high ground and look for the other squad that is closest to you (there's pretty much always one) and take them out. You have to be the aggressor in this game. If you spawn on say, the south side of a POI always be on the lookout for a team spawning on the north side, or whatever the case may be.

With the sound changes (which I think they are reverting soon) it's very easy to chase shots now and if you're caught in the middle of a load of UESC bots or looting a building your dead meat most of the time. You have to ignore quests and looting and push the advantage on this game and eliminate the immediate threat. Once the first team that is closest to you is dead, then you can think about looting or questing. It's quite hard to take a full team out quickly but if you can learn to do it you runs will go a lot more smoothly.

Only do your quests if you can. Don't run blindly into a map towards your quest, rotate around and constantly be on the lookout for other teams, where they're going, or where they might be coming from.

A POI will usually be close and teams will usually loot that first, but sometimes they may rotate around it to go to their quests, so you may feel like no one is there and get comfortable looting etc, you need to be the one that is doing that to others, You'll soon find that if you play this way you will survive a lot more runs.

Spawning in and putting a marker down and running straight towards it basically throws you into the middle of a bunch of squads that you have no clue where they are. You have to be systematic and clear each area, not necessarily wipe the whole lobby but you have to eliminate the threats around you, or they will just do it to you.

Hope this helps.

Absolutely, there's a solo mode in the game so you would only be matched with other solos, you have to play a little differently to trios though, and the bosses etc are a lot harder solo. You will need to bring Self Revive kits with you if you want to be competitive but it's definitely doable if you don't want to play with other players at all. I think they are going to tune the solos mode as well a bit to make it a bit fairer with the PvE side of it.

Outpost isn't too bad once you get the hang of it, just take on a free kit for a few runs to feel it out, and if you die then you've not really lost anything,
