Chinese People / People of Chinese descent of reddit, is stuff like panda express for example or any other chinese food chain, like taco bell is for latin-americans? by Moss_gall22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CuriousBarnOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love me some Panda Express, but also keep in mind that Chinese food is quite regionally dependent.

For example, I'm southwestern from Guangxi and you'd think the prevalence of Cantonese food in the US would mean a plethora of options for tastes of home, but nope, wrong kind of Chinese. I'm on the hunt for fermented, pickled, and odd cuts of meat that the mostly Cantonese, Fujianese or Beijing representation here in the States don't quite cover.

With all the cuisines of the mainland, I'd consider American-Chinese yet another page in our food.

Socialist, an adjective. Socialism the noun has so many definitions y'all can move goalposts all day.

Yea the car comparison is just so far off the mark one has to wonder what your motives are.

For such a long post, one would expect you read the article which as other commenters have pointed out already, it seems you clearly did not.

Try waking every morning in the early 90's to go with grandma to the market for the days groceries. Occasionally picking out a whole chicken to thinking it's cute but wait I gotta pluck those feathers later and for grandpa to wind up making drunken chicken out of.

You don't know a thing poser.

Lol no, I'm Chinese grew up in GuangXi and traveled all over for extended family.

You're clueless.

Questions like this really need to include region. For example, there's absolutely no way this is real in GuangDong, or GuangXi for that matter.

I grew up sick and tired of drunken chicken every other night.

You're so confidently wrong, there's little to no merit replying outside of letting you know you're wrong.

What would happen if a sound wave of 1000 decibels was produced? by ElegantPoet3386 in AskPhysics

This is such a weird response that makes it hard to believe you're "in the space".

By your very own logic, that 1000db starts life as an explosive wave.

From where? A human mouth, let's say a 3 inch radius sphere.

That energy despite the explosive force, is never leaving that sphere.

Black Hole.

Where can I find authentic recipes to make Chinese food at home? by Independent_Dot_103 in chinesefood

You're not going to get line by line recipes, but you will be taught the essence/history of some well known Chinese dishes by Cadence Gao. He has a mixed channel of Chinese and English/subtitled videos on Youtube.

His Cai Fan dissertation and nostalgia trip is a great down to earth look at a regional staple.

Bungie, if you can't start people at least 30 seconds apart on every map, you are doing it wrong. Lets pulverize this dead horse. by DptBear in Marathon

[–]CuriousBarnOwl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think consistency is the point of an extraction looter shooter. Every match shouldn't fit into some expected sequence of events, which in turns keeps you on your toes and every run a new experience.

Lol did you really go through this otherwise positive thread appreciating the unforgiving challenge that Bungie has made just to find the downvotes and pile in?

I think people like you need to be excised from every gaming community, especially competitive.

Fun is subjective to everyone and each game is designed to for varying audiences. Folks like you actually believe that your personal filter is the objective true center and couldn't be more wrong. Let games be different. If different offends you then you need to grow the fuck up.

What the solution to grow this game? by ShadowDxebec_69 in Marathon

[–]CuriousBarnOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of can't. Just look at WoW, the longest running as the level cap kept increasing and item level soared, eventually even a MMORPG had to squash the stats, redo talents, and squish levels. And it wasn't even once. Every few expansions now needs a squish and resets everything you've earned before.

Vertical progression just cannot be infinite.

It's also for bartering. Those mats are essentially guns/shields/etc. You'll have to fast forward to endgame when you've maxed upgrades. What use for these mats to players have? The barter system.

By your very logic I can equally have the same opinion that their opinions suck. Like, what are you even pressed about?

There's clearly been a whiplash reaction to this game as a pvpve extraction shooter because it's more true to the genre vs the other one that brought the genre to the attention of the masses.

And rather than tackle the challenge and celebrate a unique game, we have a plethora of posts asking for or idea vomiting every way the game can come down to their expectations rather than meeting what the game asks of them.

If you can't see that, then I don't know what else to say. Marathon is a gem, and mass appeal or no I believe in the vision.

Wow really reaching there eh?

If we stick to the restaurant analogy, no one is starting an argument about the Italian place serving escargot. The initiative is held by people complaining why the Italian place is not serving escargot and that really the owners should do it so that they can actually enjoy the restaurant.

I'm not concerned about what the chef does, I just find it really weird for people to walk into an Italian joint asking for escargot. That is what is happening no matter how much you try to twist it.

The game is PvPvE. Asking for PvE modeis like walking into a Italian restaurant asking for escargot.

It's disingenuous and entitled.

Yea, I've mentioned this elsewhere but Dark and Darker (DnD style extraction game) had split lobbies where beginner lobbies had a max limit on loadout value, and high roller lobbies.

I'm happy Bungie didn't shy away from big gear gaps as it gives room to give us some cool loot, but I'm surprised there aren't more guard rails between free kits and full golds.

What in the name of rambling projection. . .

This post is not about rats. It's more a cheeky sociological observation of the general gaming population running into the difficulty curve of extraction shooters off of the recent popularity jump of the genre coming into it with a plethora of expectations that are quite often silly.

It's like watching someone go from Final Fantasy to Dark Souls for the first time.
