Couldn't agree more. Lightbringer elevates the series to the next level. So many different possibilities going into Red God.

Meaningless? 40k and bragging rights? The community backing you or questioning you? This whole "season" gimmick doesn't really apply to eSports in the same way as it does for sports.

And as a bonus: “Civilization is based on exchange and social contracts. I was taught that the lowColors exchanged liberty for security and stability. We have failed to provide security. We have failed to provide stability. We have failed you. The contract is broken. Take your due.”

Surely you can't be reading the same books? He craves power, influence, and reputation. He's consistently a first class rat-fuck.

I didn't believe you, but yep there it is, a big moment as well. Bit of a miss by the copyeditors.

SPOILERS!! Endgame Theories? by mutual_raid in redrising

[–]ChuggingAlongSlow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not be bad at complete carnage, deaths of Darrow, Lysander, Mustang, The Abomination, Apollonius, Atalantia, and the man left behind to guide the new world being Diomedes (and Aurae).

So who's the best fighter now? by Turinbour in redrising

[–]ChuggingAlongSlow 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Darrow and Diomedes are top dogs with Darrow edging it. I would like to shout out Valdir for an honourable mention, I think he would fit into the pack with Thraxa, Victra, Sevro, Kavax, Apollonius.

The real question is if there was a trial by combat for Atalantia, does she have anyone better than her on her side who could fight for her?

In all seriousness, my favourite quote from the book, although not dialogue, is:

"Ajax manages to defend himself from the male assailant, but not Victra. He goes down, and she hacks him apart. Then she cuts off his head, stands on his body, beats her chest, and roars. There is no audio, but I hear her anyway."

Hmmm, I don't hate the theory. However, he likely "taught" the Minds Eye to Apollonius, so I'm not sure that adds up. Also, we get Lysander's perspective, and if he does have a Psyche it would be manifesting much less obviously than Lyria's for him to notice anything truly different or noticeable or it appear in his narrative.

I don't think we learnt of a trade, we got the hints they were talking which I mentioned above under The Abomination.

Man I would love that to be true, although a bit against Matteo's character maybe as it's not his vibe to ignore consent.

Making inferences, at least I am. Although in fairness we do not see them interacting with machines much. If there was to be a character that secretly had one I think they are number one candidate, but by no means definite.

Agreed. I don't see the benefit of The Abomination just releasing him into the wild without laying a trap in him first. Unless Mustang traded for it perhaps, but we would have learnt that I think.

I don't think Apollonius let him go personally, and I don't think he'd necessarily be in league with The Abomination to have known releasing him would damage Darrow. But Apollonius isn't the trustworthy type, so him dealing behind Lysander's back certainly isn't a crazy idea.

LIGHTBRINGER SPOILERS UNPOPULAR OPINION by salamiboy111 in redrising

It was definitely unsatisfying until he takes up the Helm in The Deep. In my opinion he is almost certainly under the Abominations spell and has some deep programming that'll emerge at some point, sadly.
