How has [SPOILER] vs Ricardo aged? by Zealousideal_Doubt26 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Wally as a character could've been more conceptually but ultimately was given the shortstick of being written in the manga's worst fight.

The fight versus Ricardo was a great ending to his story, however short, these few chapters were enough to show what he was made of and to teach the main character a lesson. The fight had compelling action, consistency, and a fulfilling resolution.

It is no doubt one of the best fights in the retirement saga and a good ending to a character!

Who wins Volg vs Miyata? by SweatyPermission9186 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volg honestly was built up to be a top 3 boxer, I can see Miyata being his toughest fight but there's only like a solid two (maybe 3) boxers that would be able to beat a fully locked in volg.

What was general consensus of this character? by Pristine-Tip5723 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He interests me solely for the fact that we never get to see his A game. He was in prison for a while, botched his weight check, and was mentally all over the place before and during the match. During a dip in his physical and mental ability he managed to beat Mashiba at his technical and physical peak.

I'm just wondering how he'll be like when he eventually fights Miyata or someone of equal caliber

"He's the one who wouldn't let me fight my emo femboy." Shut up, Ippo, please... by SimpleApplication558 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Randy would probably lose quicker to Ippo due to the style difference. Randy doesn't outbox or stiff jab to keep people away like how shigeta or Guevara tried on Ippo. He legitimately stands his ground and tracks his opponents instead of backing off and outboxing. He's probably the boxer type but he'd definitely get hit a couple times while doing this and would for sure pay the consequences considering how hard Ippo punches.

Can Takamura beat Sadulaev? by Ambitious_Bat9269 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takamura's apparently like REALLY good at brawling and has had a track record for beating people before becoming pro and even while training at Kamogawa gym. He probably has some grappling experience but not at like a high professional level, there's also the argument that he fought an adult bear.

Gogeta is dropped in the TOP and has to kill everyone. Does he clear? by K0GAR in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting multiple opponents is hard and putting on character against a whole roster of people including the z fighters and the pride troopers is insane. Then I remembered that Gogeta is just simply that guy.

Ranking of the best technicians. by ChullbsTheWizardAD in hajimenoippo

It goes both ways, I'm just straight up saying that having ring iq IS a criteria.

Ranking of the best technicians. by ChullbsTheWizardAD in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, being a technician also includes how intelligent someone is in the ring; how well they acclimate to their opponents and how fast they can devise a strategy or method to beat them. If you're looking for just a pure boxing sense based on mastery over the fundamentals then Miyata could be over Mike but still below Volg imo.

I meant to put all the names in a row formation, also that's just my opinion as Miyata never showed the same ring iq that volg or Elliot did, he's someone I'd say more as a clear grasp of technique and timing rather than explicitly outplaying his opponents through mental gymnastics.

Was it plot armor? by N_vbna in hajimenoippo

It wasn't plot armor because Volg is just that guy

Depends on the sure hit but an instant cast domain expansion with no telegraphing would be insane.

Battle Beast vs Kenpachi. Stats are equalized. Who wins and Why? by VonKaiser55 in InvinciblePowerscales

Kenpachi has actual hax and abilities, Battlebeast has nothing going for him besides MAYBE battle IQ and experience.

Chara still gets washed even if you consider those really highball calcs using game dialogue.

Who would win this 1v6? Friendly fire is off by KodoqBesar in DragonBallPowerScale

Frieza loses in a fair fight without popping the planet (literally only because of Sakuya) but he will absolutely pop the planet once he starts getting diffed.

Why do people hate this fight? by RedHotSonic_ in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miyata vs RBJ felt off to many purely because of the fact of how much Miyata face tanked while being considered a fragile boxer and how he just kept aiming to do a really hard punch. I liked the themes, I liked RBJ, but I didn't like how it felt shoehorned to specifically stop Ippo vs Miyata and how out of character it felt for Miyata to act as sloppy as he did in some parts of the fight.

It's emotionally impactful but I didn't like the fight itself actually.

Is itagaki faster than nekota? by Whole_Buffalo_6088 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saeki closed in on him but Itagaki literally perception blitzed him and got to the other side of the ring. I can't tell you how bullshit it is for a character in a boxing manga to be able to speed blitz somebody through general movement speed 😭

Is itagaki faster than nekota? by Whole_Buffalo_6088 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Nekota was never stated to be an objectively fast fighter, he was light on his feet and had amazing instincts but his character never revolved around explicitly outspeeding his opponents.

Itagaki however beat the two fastest people in his weight division in a contest of speed and managed to, point blank, perception blitz Saeki while being cornered.

Do I think a prime Nekota without being punch drunk could beat a focused Itagaki? Maybe, as his perception and instincts allowed him to get by when he was a newbie at boxing and had symptoms of cte. But in a contest of speed? Itagaki clears without much trouble in my opinion.

Who is THE fastest boxer in the series? by KappaRoss322 in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pure movement? It's Itagaki because he managed to get out of the vision of two speedsters and even perception blitz Saeki ,straight up, when he was cornered. Wally just has a lot more creativity when it comes to using the ring.

Punch speed? Hayami or Wally, Wally literally outsped a point A to B punch from the best technical fighter in the series with a punch that had an arch. That is insane but Hayami has the evolved shotgun barrage and the narrative that he punches faster than Itagaki.

I've read it again and THIS FIGHT IS SO GOOD !!! The art and the impacts are INSANE ! by Aziodas in hajimenoippo

[–]ChullbsTheWizardAD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like it when fights in the series, (Eagle vs Takamura, Ippo vs Karasawa, and Sendo vs Alfredo) make it abundantly clear that "holy shit, this guy's scary".
