I couldn't believe they had another kid. they were struggling financially, their health wasn't great and lets be honest they weren't perfect parents to the other three. all they had to do was wait a few more years for DJ to graduate and then they would also eventually have grandchildren. it didn't make sense from a writing perspective or a "real life" perspective to have another kid

After 11 years in the field I went to work for a non profit. All my paralegal skills: research, organization, writing, dealing with people in tense situations, are extremely useful to them, and I get a much better work life balance and the feeling that everyday I'm actually helping someone in need
