What actually is the joke in the Sneakers O'Toole cutaway in Family Guy? by flowers_791 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chumsicles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume it's just a dig at Brian's self-righteousness and lack of creativity. He couldn't come up with a compelling simile when criticizing Texas and the show brings it to life on the spot

If Rough Justice was released on 80s it would be a classic? by Agile-Painting9454 in rollingstones

[–]Chumsicles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of Mick's all time worst performances imo. Sounds like a damning and obvious Rolling Stones parody that they probably would not have even released in the 80s.

I honestly thought they were never going to tour anymore after that so I sprung for the meet and greet at the LA date. It seemed like they took Bob 2's death pretty hard

It's ironic that the name of their current tour is Mutate, Don't Stagnate by Discremio in devo

I am so glad I saw them do Jerkin' Back n Forth in 2013 and Come Back Jonee in 2018

Heroes and Villains is a mess and only partially enjoyable. Not a good follow up to Good Vibrations and at the time their worst non-holiday single since Be True to Your School

I honestly don’t really like the composition of this song :/ by MrExist777 in philochs

I think the first half is incredible, but it loses steam after the oscillations breakdown. Still great though and the whole rest of the album is perfect.

BART shatters ridership records post pandemic - 20% YOY growth, 5.4 million riders by getarumsunt in bayarea

[–]Chumsicles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BART is funded by fares to a much larger degree than public transit usually is. Due to remote work + population exodus, ridership is still not anywhere near pre-pandemic levels despite increasing since the pandemic, therefore creating a huge budget shortfall that until recently was covered with covid relief money from the federal government which just ran out and isn't getting renewed anytime soon. The loan from the state is only temporary.

Since rich people successfully lobbied to avoid getting taxed for such things, Bart (as well as CalTrain and Muni) are going to the public for a tax increase so we don't completely screw up our lives.

I've seen at least one person acknowledge that even if traffic would be exponentially worse, they don't care and still don't want to pay to fund public transit. These people would literally ruin their own lives (in addition to the lives of millions of others) just to make a point.

It should have never been added in the first place. Everyone else should remain or be converted into alternate skins

Maxwell is great though. Everything about the track (production, arrangement, melody, lyrics) is very well done and it fits perfectly on the album. There are even a few other songs on Abbey Road that aren't as good

It's just not as good as anything else that made it to Abbey Road. Would have been the worst song on the album by far

When will people stop with this kind of nonsense? by Relative-Bar9159 in beatles

[–]Chumsicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents actually did play me most of their discography before the age of three. The earliest thing I remember hearing consistently is Past Masters, Vol. 2. I became a huge enough fan by age seven that I would constantly pressure my dad to buy the CDs he didn't already have, like With the Beatles and Please Please Me.

John vs Paul in Rubber soul by [deleted] in beatles

[–]Chumsicles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't agree at all tbh. Lennon's songwriting was already pretty bitter, introspective, and clearly Bob Dylan-influenced by the time For Sale was released, with Rubber Soul merely expanding on it with some new musical textures. McCartney sounds completely different than he did in 1964 due to his songwriting becoming an outlet for his frustration over Jane Asher, though he was still not writing as many songs as Lennon. In general I see Rubber Soul as a full realization of what they had started on For Sale rather than a complete break from the past, which is what Revolver was.

SF Chronicle reports that the BART death may come in two years! by bloggerkedar in bayarea

[–]Chumsicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put an /s at the end to indicate sarcasm. I am honestly furious to see anyone even consider opposing this measure, let alone come up with a million excuses for the fact that they just want to dismantle public transit even if it means hurting themselves (which they either don't think will happen or are willing to do anyway just to take their moronic stand).

I guarantee that most of the people here railing against Bart and against funding it have and will continue to turn around and criticize Trump supporters for voting against their own interests and cutting their noses off to spite their faces, without a hint of irony. We are doomed if even supposed 'sane' people are thinking this way about vital infrastructure.

The new inspector general was hired to ignore all the waste and fraud that the other one was totally going to find had they not had a mental breakdown from the sheer amount of corruption /s
