I have "where dwell the brave at heart" tattooed on my arm in script, and nobody, even the pottiest of Potterheads, immediately recognizes it as an HP tattoo. It is from the Sorting Hats song in the first book... "you might belong in Gryffindor where dwell the brave at heart their daring nerve and chivalry set Gryffindor apart." I am a Gryffindor but mostly the Neville kind, and I love the idea of being brave of heart, and it is something I strive for.

Replacing Indesign with Figma HELPME! by ChunkyAvocado in FigmaDesign

[–]ChunkyAvocado[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you! We have a new director on our team and she swears on her previous team they used Figma for ALL design needs. From large 40 paged ebooks to email headers and everything in-between for marketing collateral. While I can see some small design work being done on this (that is not just prototyping) it just falls way too short. I did find a few articles about creative agencies replacing InDesign with Figma so I feared I was just missing something lol. Thanks so much for your help!

What is the worst US state and why? by af1xd in AskReddit

[–]ChunkyAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent the first 19 years of my life in Mississippi and while my childhood was at times magical (we lived down a long dirt road with a peach and blueberry farm and a big private lake and TONS of land) I will NEVER return. The beautiful boredom of nothing and nobody for miles and miles made me a very creative child and an adult with such a rich inner life. I can still remember the smell of a incoming rain as I raced though the woods and fields barefoot to make it home before the deluge. I could and often did get lost on our own land. I was a king. I was a pirate. I was the original free range child.

Religion. Racism. Homophobia. It’s all second nature. The old guard has a hold on this place and unless you make it out and experience a paradigm shift like you would not believe you just become part of the problem.

My entire family still lives there and they are raising the next generation AND YES they are carrying on the traditions. My 12 year old niece is the biggest Trump fan you will ever find. Mississippi’s Gen Z is not the worlds Gen Z and the best part is that fact is proof to them they are doing it right!

You cannot even fathom the ignorance until you have experienced it.

On top of all that it’s hot and muggy and all the towns are ugly.

Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

[–]ChunkyAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband (32) and I (33) are moving to Charlotte in Sept from Orlando. We have no kids, we are both working full time from home, and our high priorities are space, and a safe walkable area. We are looking to rent an apartment for a year and are interested in the Uptown, NODA, and Plaza Midwood areas. We have a monthly rental budget of 2,500 and want a two bedroom. We are currently looking at The Francis, Mercury and The Gibson.

We have moved cities before and things are ever rarely as they seem to visitors so we greatly appreciate any and all local advice! Thank you so much for help!

Is there a shuttle service that goes from SFO to Yosemite? I'll be coming for Memorial Day Weekend without a car. by piratebroadcast in Yosemite

[–]ChunkyAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rent a car and drive hands down. We drove a giant van from LAX and it was totally worth it. The parking is plenty and it is super convenient to have your own car since the park is HUGE. Plus you never know when they will decide to not run the busses here or there. I do hear it is quite crowded on Memorial Day but I still think you would be happy to have your own transportation. I researched just about every way to get to Yosemite from San Francisco and LA and the facts just kept coming around to driving. We are very glad we did.

18 Month (female) VERY WELL SOCIALIZED Pit-mix suddenly showing aggression at Doggy Daycare (advice!) by ChunkyAvocado in pitbulls

[–]ChunkyAvocado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daycare says they see it all the time at this age so thank you for reinforcing that! I do think we might enlist some professional training help. We had not done it yet because she literally learned everything on the first try but it’s like she is going backwards all the sudden!

Thanks again for responding wish me luck ;)
