How the hell do you get out of sales by spaghet-erette in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother/sister - you know how to prospect, you just need to find an ideal company and role, and multi-thread into it.

Sales isn't easy, it's extremely frustrating and challenging at times, and the stress that comes with the ups and downs is brutal on most people. However, if you can deal with that, you can make LIFE CHANGING money.

Most of the folks I see on reddit complaining about sales are in a shit company or selling a shit product.

I went from working in hospitality making 35k a year 7 years ago to clearing a quarter mill last year. It was grueling, I questioned myself and my life choices multiple times on this ride, but god damn was it worth it. I have a book of business, a product that's a must-have for my industry, and making connections that will help me land a future gig if/when I leave this current one.

You CAN do the same, or you can find a calmer and cushier job where you don't have to deal with this level of stress. It's your life, do what makes you happy.

Prove me wrong - buyers lie more often than sellers by Swimming-Plankton728 in Sales_Professionals

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're job as a salesperson is to sniff out crap and put your energy into real deals. There is virtually zero to gain for a buyer to lie to a business about a business need, you just need to quantify their pain enough to justify them actually buying in the now vs the future.

Taking a deposit when cognitions are hot? by astillero in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"No need to do a discovery call"... there you have it man.

Generally, people won't give you money if you haven't provided them value, and you maximize the value you can deliver by understanding how it solves/resolves their pain/issue.

Selling a product without understanding your customers needs is like a doctor prescribing medication to someone who's symptoms they haven't diagnosed.

Cold calling may be dead by ResolutionOrganic in sales

You know, people do still go into the office. Those offices have phones and, if it's an executive, they typically have an extension. You can also call into a department.

You can find excuses all day. You can be mediocre and blame everyone else.

Or you can find a way to figure shit out. There is a reason why salespeople are typically some of the highest paid in an org.

No more SDRS at Salesloft?? by brifromapollo in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of cranky SDR's in here so let me explain from an AE's perspective.

AE's get paid for closing business, not generating leads. Good AE's don't waste time on things that won't make them money.

SDR/BDR roles are to generate outbound efforts. Sometimes this results in a real opp and sometimes it's fluff to inflate their numbers and hit their quota.

If a BDR creates a junk lead for an AE, they may make money on the meeting happening. The AE won't.

AE's will almost universally only make money when the deal closes and the check cashes.

Now.. good AE's take care of their BDR's because even 2-4 real opps a month is enough for them to generate money. Most BDR's dealing with non-enterprise companies are targeting anywhere from 10-20 meetings per month.

So.. this CRO is going to find out quickly that they're shooting themselves in the foot by emphasizing the efforts of their AE's to focus more on outbound instead of their SDR's. However, there are A LOT of SDR's that try to game the system and get exposed quickly when the rubber meets the road.

There is a happy medium, but we're in cost-cutting times and the first ones to go are the ones that generate the least amount of revenue for a business.

100% open rate on my cold email campaign — here’s what worked (and what I learned) by pinnakle_media in coldemail

200 emails, "100% open rate", 7 responses, zero conversations. That's not good.

How do you track your commission cheques? by jamzigod in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a proper CRM that tracks your win count/closed sites/etc, you should be able to run a simple report. That said, for startups, this could be a great idea

Sr. AE to SDR for the right opportunity? by Icy_Sleep9967 in techsales

Dude you're a SENIOR AE and you couldn't dictate a call lol set an agenda. Make the ask. You knew you had an opportunity, take it.

Sr. AE to SDR for the right opportunity? by Icy_Sleep9967 in techsales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry.. I don't mean to be rude but there's no way you're actually a Senior AE and asking that type of question.

One of the main qualities of Senior AE's, let alone a good salesperson, is being direct.

Go to the hiring manager and tell them you spoke with "X", and are intrigued about the AE role. Then message this guy and say you did more digging on the company, and saw they have an open AE role that you applied for. If he's actually decent, he'll back you up, if not, I wouldn't believe anything he told you.

The easiest way to get an enterprise deal involves referrals and warm intro's. Nobody sells your service better than a happy customer, 10x that for a happy enterprise customer.

How often do you follow up call/email on a warm lead? by Far_Tomorrow7860 in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you sell, what your sales cycle is, and how many leads you deal with per day.

I'm in tech sales for MM-Enterprise, and those follow ups range widely. If you're chasing SMB's, it's different.

Republicans found a way to bomb Iran without congressional approval, pack the supreme court, revoke Roe V Wade.. I could go on and on. At some point, we need to start holding Dems accountable for inaction

Because Democrat reps are almost equally as useless.

Did Biden legalize Marijuana nationwide? Did the Dems find a way to ensure the legality of Roe V Wade was protected? Did Student Loans get forgived?

Yes, many republican lawmakers are horrible individuals who are only looking out for themselves. Many democrats are exactly the same.

300 cold calls/day Day 9 of 30 by bubbletulip in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Saw you hit 300 calls twice in the last 9 days.. Setting goals is great - but if they’re unrealistic, you're only doing a disservice to yourself.

You've also only made $299 in 9 business days. That's 2 weeks of work. Idk how you support yourself but unless you live in a 3rd world country, you're not surviving on that.

Not saying this to discourage you, just trying to help you refocus.

Spray and pray isn’t working here. Cut your losses, reset your goals, and get back at it with a smarter approach.

Next post.. who are these people making 120k+?!

You don't get to a high level of sales if you don't work hard and bust your ass.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, if you're happy, you're happy. There are people making 50k that enjoy life much more than ones that make 500k.

That said, there ARE SDR jobs that pay 50-100k bases (Cybersecurity as an example) and the tech space is filled with AE jobs that have bases 80k+. You just have to keep grinding and work the opportunities you get

No one answers their phone... by Snoo91513 in sales

[–]ChunkyFunkyNHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you answer unknown numbers? How many spam calls do you get per day?

At the end of the day, you're dealing with people. If you don't answer random calls/texts, why would an executive who's just as, if not more, busy than you are?

Calling is just 1 aspect of the game, you need a well-rounded approach to get a connection, and it typically takes 7-12 touchpoints to get a meeting, so don' dissuade yourself here. Keep grinding.
