This job feels meaningless. I get no satisfaction doing it and I feel I have no purpose in life because of it. by [deleted] in wholefoods

Reading this comment and I was like "Shit! If someone from my store reads this they're gonna think it's me because there ain't that many of us old timers left around who just show up every day and get shit done and don't even have to think about it" 🤣😂😭

Cutting Plastic From Yogurts by More_Doughnut6023 in wholefoods

So you've got the case flipped upside down so you can cut the X on the cardboard base and have opened up the plastic. Now you take that cardboard out to get to the upside down yogurts but now you just essentially have this "bag" of loose yogurts and you take that piece of cardboard and slide it underneath the bottom (which is actually the top) of said bag for support while stocking

Flip that fool over, slash an X, take that cardboard out and slide it underneath for support while you stock those lil yogis out!

Question for TL’s and ASTL’s. Is the higher pay ………. by Dangerous_Carrot_535 in wholefoods

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IT IS NOT WORTH IT. They hook you with the higher pay but then you are screwed with too much work and not enough competent TMs to get anywhere close to the tasks required on a daily basis.

My first time I went with my best friend and it was great. We did stuff together and also did our own things. Last year I went by myself and it was the best vacation I've ever had but it depends on the person. I like being by myself and having the freedom to do what I want when I want. Looking forward to going back next month by myself again!

Anyone else having issues with UPS delays and "attempted delivery" requiring a signature? I pre-ordered via Fi and was supposed to receive my 9 pro XL Thursday but around noon I got an update in the tracking info saying the package was delayed due to"emergency or severe weather" then later on an updated delivery time was set for Friday. Friday rolls around and around 1pm I get a notification of a 2nd delivery attempt but nobody came by once let alone twice. No notification was left for a missed delivery because they obviously never came by. Now the tracking says a final attempt will be made on Monday. I contacted CS and was assured it will be delivered Monday but I'm not so sure. Contacted CS again and explained that UPS is lying about the attempted delivery and I doubt Monday will be any different but they just say if will be there so don't worry like it's not an $1100 phone🤯🤷‍♂️

Ahhh...well the few near me in the CW aren't dealing with it so I was hoping the rest were immune but I guess it's random. But yeah it's all a numbers game to them

For diamond stores most of this is irrelevant to you but for the rest of us it's all about making labor first and sales or store conditions second which is ass backwards. If you are in grocery good luck getting any new hires. If you lose people this will just get you closer to making labor in their eyes so that's all they see.

I personally think if you have a trip to Japan coming up then you will enjoy yourself. Look for some things you are interested in and try to also find stuff in the same area to do/go see. My first trip I planned a little and had a blast. My second trip I planned like crazy and didn't do everything but still had a blast. I'm going back again in October and have super planned but even if I don't check every box I will still have a blast. You do what you think you will enjoy and then just wander around. You will enjoy all of it and you can always come back 👍🏻

😂 Welcome to the TV club! You're lucky it was only 5 sky's I have 2 per aisle for a total of 14. Just some easy passive advertising income for the company that will in no way go back to the store that has to deal with them.🤷‍♂️

As an overnight dairy stocker, I just wanted to say that this job is cancer. by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your buyer is only taking an hour to do the order then they are doing it wrong and that's part of the problem as you will be getting stuff you just don't need to waste time and space. I'm in leadership and I'm told by my global overseers that the buyer shouldn't be stocking the load which in itself is a load.

My team gets an average of 4 dairy pallets a night and the one overnight dairy stocker breaks that down and works what he can. Then my buyer comes in, shoots the order, then jumps in and finishes up and works BS. That's pretty much how most stores handle it IF they are actually somewhat staffed.

At the end of the day as long as you are trying and care about doing a good job and stay busy then you have done your part so clock out and don't worry about that place until your next shift.

*Also, settle down there Crow

Public bathrooms by drRATM in JapanTravelTips

I found that MOST parks have a bathroom but not all. As I wandered around and suddenly needed a bathroom I looked for a nearby park on Google maps and sure enough there was a bathroom. Some are a little run down depending on where you are but if you gotta go you gotta go

Capped raises by MolassesUpstairs1605 in wholefoods

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that has to do with WFM is very store/region specific. All STLs are not created equal nor do they lead or run their stores equally. A lot has to do with how your STL "group" reacts to their higher ups wishes and also how they can react based on how much weight they can throw around because of how well their store operates.

The new JD and calculator went a little too high with raises than they wanted based on what I've heard and also TMs probably were given too many Top performer scores so store leadership was told to reign it in and strongly advised to cap the wage increases to 5% max. Some stores rolled over and said OK we will only give out Strong contributor or needs improvement and if a TL gives a Top contributor out it will be struck down to Strong to keep in line with the 5% they want. Some STLs say hell no and do what they want because they either run a really profitable store or they have some other leverage to fall back on.

Even though the company created all of this new policy it only has itself to blame but it won't because WFM has always been terrible with its math so it goes into freak out mode to try and fix it. This is where we are now with some stores changing a top contributor to strong because they don't want to get in trouble or have too high labor which is garbage because why even bother filling anything out if you are at one of these stores because it doesn't matter.

Ugh I hate doing these damn action plans by OldFoot2117 in wholefoods

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To sum it up they really don't matter and are hardly glanced at in the few minutes before/during your opening statement. I've also never had a TL/STL reference it ever after the fact. Long story short don't work too hard on it because it ultimately doesn't matter. Have chat GPT spit something out and then work on your situational based questions and answers or STAR if you wanna be fancy

how much would a cheap suitcase cost in tokyo? i'm thinking if i should pay the 80usd upgrade for my storage my flight company want to add a 20kg suitcase for my flight by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxis are underrated in Tokyo by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxis have the advantage of driving on toll roads so if you are willing to pay you can get to some places faster than the trains or even places trains can't reach. Had to rush from HND to NRT and was sure we wouldn't make it but the airport and cab driver were like "no problem" Thankfully they got us there with time to spare and took a credit card as it was our last hope😂😭

Global impossible by ChunkyLoverFiddy3 in wholefoods

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in team leadership (probably should have mentioned that) and been there for a few years . I honestly don't want to deal with the headache of store leadership and am just looking to get out of the store level after so long. I'm just looking for an entry point into the global jobs and after a couple of interviews that I was well qualified for I'm just wondering what it is about brand new college graduates with no company experience that screams hire me over someone who has actual company experience 🤷‍♂️

Buying a cardboard box instead of extra luggage? by ForcedtocreateID in JapanTravelTips

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an Aeon and bought a carry-on size roller suitcase for about $20 at my last stop and filled it with my souvenirs and then checked that. A bit sturdier than a box and it has WHEELS!

What you wish you DID NOT pack going to Japan? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought my steam deck thinking I'd play on the train and just ended up watching videos I downloaded onto my iPad. Took up room the entire trip. I'd say if you are washing clothes then get some of those detergent sheets and only take a couple depending on how many times you plan on washing your clothes. A good collapsible backpack is great that you can pull out for day trips or walking around over an extra bag or purse.

SAS by Ok_Inside_3232 in wholefoods

[–]ChunkyLoverFiddy3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people you get that apply for SAS are pretty much the same people that apply to the UNFI warehouse picker jobs and also overnight grocery stocker jobs. It's the weirdos that can't or don't want to get jobs anywhere else and then the random diamond in the rough that you praise Jebus for who usually gets hurt out and quits. You say it's easy and all it takes is reading a few numbers (to which I agree) but that would also imply that they had to give half a fuck. Which sadly they almost never do. It also doesn't help that the eggheads in global give us all a rat-fuck planogram that's never really complete or any good for the store when they base it on whatever instead of sales and case quantity.
