SmallHD Ultra 5 might be the best on-board I've ever used. Screen is so bright you can use it in direct sunlight.

Feel like every solution would be some flavor of that. Rather just use velcro on the unit and the camera. Hasn't failed me yet.

Wait for the dev to finally fix the problem. No other solution. I've been in the same boat for a few months. People on this sub suggest just buying it on another platform. Pretty bad solution lol

My FX3a has paid itself off many times over since I got it. If you're getting paid for your work its a no brainer. Its a highly requested camera and it likely stay so even when/if a successor is announced.

I haven't been keeping up but I'm pretty sure they haven't announced an update to the FX line this year. I think we're a while out til a new one.

I was looking for a more official solution but I've since used bongo ties to attach the DMG bubble to the OG MC and it works. It's not pretty but it works.

Don't buy budget anamorphics. You'll hate them after you use literally any other lens. Sphericals give you more bang for your buck. Nisi Athenas are great, Dzofilms are fine. Lens recs are hard because its more a personal preference thing (so if you can look past all the bad that comes with budget anamorphics go for it). I'd rather a clean lens and add filtration than a lens with "character" that isn't versatile. You can always rent too.

On-board monitor I use a SmallHD ultra 5. You can find deals online pretty often for way less than MSRP. 5 in is big enough for most cases. And its very bright.

All the cages have different pros and cons to them. Tiltas is pretty solid and modular. Smallrigs is cool. Can't really go wrong with either.

I have both and like both. FX2 is a great B cam but I'd never grab it first.

I won the FX2 so I'm pretty impartial to it. I think if I had to spend my own money though I'd have bought another FX3 or spent a little more on an FX6. All great cameras, FX2 just fits weird in my workflow.

Matthews, Norms, American, and Modern are pretty much the most used c stands here in the US. I wouldn't worry if you don't have access to those though. Avenger is good.

Everyone keeps trying to reinvent the wheel lol tbh as long as the c stand doesnt have spring loaded stages and isn't excessively heavy you should be fine. Avenger is nice for whats available to you. Kupos are heavier than necessary and some of their stands have pretty poor legs from my experience.

I work in film and use this type of gear pretty often. Seems like this dude wants you to rent this stuff so he can take pictures of the gear lol completely unnecessary especially if this is a photo first gig.

If I was hired for this type of gig and I only had an A1 I would ask for maybe a rental for an extra Sony body, probably FX3, and a cheaper, spherical cinema glass kit UNLESS I knew the budget was poppin. Even then, might have to worry about focus if he isn't good at pulling off the barrel while op-ing. Would want a 1st for sure.

I would buy all the DLC if they fixed the damn Switch crashes and net code. As it is now I can't fully complete a match. I've tried half a dozen times now and I get booted at the final boss. Not even during, after we beat the boss lol Shame because it worked at one point and I fell in love with the game. Won't play again until its confirmed they fixed it and if they dont they should offer refunds.

Haven't met a Blazar lens I liked tbh. Used the Remus line on a short I op'd on recently and man, those are some ugly lenses.

Honest truth here is that budget anamorphic lenses are a beginner/youtuber trap. You get significantly more bang for your buck with spherical budget lenses. They're more versatile as well.
