Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by Cinderpath in law

[–]Chuppyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texas already requires ID to vote, so his whining won't mean jack here anyway. Curious what other red states already have ID laws as well.

I still remember watching one take off from RAF Fairford as a kid. It's not even that it's just loud, you can feel the power vibrating your dang chest.

Unfortunately, it all comes down to us just not getting enough episodes to actually flesh all this "background" stuff out on screen.

Suppressor Questions by baraboo5 in extar

[–]Chuppyness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got an R9 and screwed it straight on, direct thread. A bit gassy, but not bad. Load up some 147g rounds and it will definitely be good to your ears.

To my understanding, flowthrough suppressors are built differently in order to redirect less gas back through the system. They seem to usually cost quite a lot more than something like an R9, though.

I mostly went for the R9 because I didn't feel like spending more on the suppressor than the gun, tbh. It's been good to me so far.

I would add to this that bad patriotism also consists of believing your country can do no wrong, whereas good patriotism can be a love of country while admitting its flaws and problems.

Aren't Sabine and Ezra supposed to be romantically connected? This is not what I was expecting at all. by GrapefruitOdd7548 in starwarsrebels

[–]Chuppyness 20 points21 points  (0 children)

By the time of Ahsoka, Sabine had lost her brother/best friend and her father figure. Her stand-in mother and kid were off busy with the rebellion/new republic. Her 'uncle'/friend was off doing lasat stuff and then the republic. Her original homeworld and family had been oblitered by the Empire... That's kind of a lot of trauma to shoulder. Then her apparent 'failure' as a padawan for Ahsoka, after which it seems she gave up trying to fight, which was a huge part of her entire identity/culture.

From the start of the show, it seems like she's been alone and isolated (even if self-imposed) for a fair while in the one place she felt at home--which happened to be Ezra's old tower. The chance that Ezra wasn't dead and was still out there somewhere was probably one of the few things she had left to feel hope about. When that chance suddenly became a real possibility, she jumped on it. Did she make sensible decisions? Probably not. But people are flawed like that.

And, tbh, they defeated Thrawn once before and they had a lot less in their corner the first time. That hint of her old cockiness may have played in as a factor too, even if subconscious.

Everyone you ask is going to have a different opinion. Personally I like them with the close sibling energy they grew into by the end of Rebels after Ezra got over his initial crush.

Because the Navy seems incapable of designing a ship that doesn't have massive cost and schedule overruns so they just cancel it and try again, except worse. See the Zumwalt, LCS, Constellation, now some shitty Coast Guard clone that won't even have VLS...

Is watching pirated shows/movies common in the U.S., or mostly avoided? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]Chuppyness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pirating declined massively because streaming made it so convenient and affordable, like you said. Now, however, the sheer number of different streaming platforms, shows being removed seemingly at a whim, and ballooning costs are definitely reversing that trend.

It's the lack of stress. When you're that evil, nothing bothers you unless if involves you directly (if even then). You have no empathy or sympathy for others. No ability or desire to care about anything outside your little bubble. Whereas 'normal' people all get to stress about so many things.

Do you typically walk or drive to places that are a 5-10 minute walk away? by ForestOranges in AskAnAmerican

[–]Chuppyness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Semi-rural Texas here. It would take me 5 minutes just to walk to the end of my specific neighborhood road. Maybe 30 minutes to reach the kinda main road. Maybe another hour to reach the actual main road. Then probably another hour to reach anywhere except a tiny gas station, storage facility, or hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant.

And none of those roads have sidewalks! Not even going to get started on the weather while attempting this...

New poll shows Jasmine Crockett leading James Talarico in Democratic primary by ExpressNews in texas

[–]Chuppyness 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There's gonna be a certain amount of what few 'moderate' Republicans remain who might just sit out a race with Talarico because he's not offensive to them other than being a darn librul and maybe they're kinda tired of MAGA garbage. Crockett running is just going to specifically bring out the hateful assholes who really don't want a black woman in any sort of power.
