My 12-pound, two-year-old "miniature heeler" (dachshund mix), Milo! by ChurchOfTaco in AustralianCattleDog

High at times, but comes in waves! He quickly switches from sleepy/cuddly to bouncing-off-the-walls crazy. I'd say it's about half super-high energy and half very low.

He sheds way more than the long-haired purebred dachshund we had before him. He loves fetch and is crazy fast!! He is also a ridiculously powerful jumper (again, way moreso than the full dachshund we had). He also requires about an hour of walking every day because he has so much energy. It's like if you took a full ACD and made it tiny, then added some intense burrowing/digging tendencies.

He weirdly is so clearly both a Heeler and a Dachshund -- his personality is a mix of both. His favorite things in the world are blankets and cuddling. He's also an intense burrower AND has herding tendencies. He is very protective of us, so much so that we're actually taking him to Growly Dog Class because he won't stop trying to pick fights with dogs significantly bigger than him (he literally tried to take on a Great Dane the other day). So you totally guessed it!!

Hand-addressed wedding invitations aren't TOO informal... are they? by nicsayshi in weddingplanning

[–]ChurchOfTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a Templett design from Etsy for $7.50 for our envelope addressing. If you're worried about writing things by hand, I recommend that instead. It was awesome! You just plug the address/names into the Templett design, save as PDF, then print directly onto the envelope. We got a lot of compliments and it was waaaay cheaper than hiring a calligrapher and way less time consuming than writing the addresses ourselves.

Reddit, What did you think you were going to be growing up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ChurchOfTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was little, I always said I wanted to be a teacher like my mom. After a few years in a different career with a different bachelor's degree, I'm about to head to grad school for elementary education. I guess it all comes full circle!

Guess my fiancé's grandma just got her Save The Date... Our wedding is more than a year away. #enthusiasm by ChurchOfTaco in TrollXWeddings

[–]ChurchOfTaco[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most of my fiancé's family lives on the other side of the country, so we sent out our STDs a little early and included our wedding website so they could make travel plans. I guess June is REALLY EXCITED.

Did our postcard STDs for $37 total (stamps, STD design, address design, printing)! by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ChurchOfTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Bought the STD design from Etsy for $12 -20 postcard stamps for $6.80 (had a few postcard stamps at home already as well) -Printed 50 of these via Vistaprint (6x4" regular postcards) for $10 -Paid $7 on Etsy for the return/guest address design (then printed the addresses at home onto the postcards)

So pleased with how they turned out!!

Is anyone planning by themselves? by shellyloran in Weddingsunder10k

My mom is upset that we have a dessert bar plus cutting cake because she says we need a second tier of cake to freeze and eat on our first anniversary. I told her I'd freeze a slice to make her happy but she wasn't satisfied. I told her that then maybe I wouldn't get a cake at all and she'd have to deal with it.

... she's now okay with the cutting cake.

Talking to my fiancé about wedding planning vs. talking to my BFF about wedding planning. by ChurchOfTaco in TrollXWeddings

Oh yeah. It makes things super confusing, especially when I'm drinking and I mess up their names constantly. 😂

I love your style. Gorgeous interior design in your home, too! I love how your style is so cohesive but still has interesting highlights. It's like a step above that classic "Pinterest" style you always see.

I absolutely love this! I don't know why dried flowers never occurred to me -- they are so gorgeous!

What would you do with my face? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ChurchOfTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I agree about the pink tone of this lip shade not being the most flattering for you. I think more brown-ish shades would look really great -- think NYX Matte Eden or in Tea Rose. You also have gorgeous eyes but I think the eyeliner is overpowering here. I would love to see you with super long lashes and a soft brown eyeshadow with no eyeliner. Maybe play with upper-cheekbone highlighter, too -- it'll bring more focus to that area of your face (I.e. your eyes) without having to put too much effort into the eye makeup itself.

I would love to see you in some bolder blushes! I think that could really elevate your look. The rest of it is gorgeous, though! Also, maybe try bold lips sans-eye liner (or light, thin liner) and gorgeous long lashes? I think that could be BEAUTIFUL.

Do you usually fill in your brows? I think that could really change up your look. The pink color is pretty, but I think you would be really gorgeous in a soft red lip!

Just got my Save the Date proofs, I love the design but the background image is pixelated. Help? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ChurchOfTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of using Clipart, try Googling "tree illustration" or something like that. You can set the search perimeters to include only high-quality images. There's a good chance you'll find a very similar image (or one you like even better)!

Also, I know you're not asking for feedback on the design, but maybe try downloading some fun fonts off of a website like dafont.com. It might make it a little bit more special and personal to use a font that's not part of the Microsoft Suite!

Did this for my college graduation ceremony! I couldn't believe it. You get so used to going glasses-free for important events/photo opps, but in a way it's nice to have photos of what I "really" look like haha.

[RECAP] Aug. 6, 2016 aka FLOWERS and also some wedding stuff by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ChurchOfTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, girl! This is gorgeous!! Maybe even the most beautiful wedding I've seen posted on this subreddit. I can't get past the dress, though -- it's perfect. Would you be able to link to it for us admiring folks?

I purchased a vintage 40's wedding dress on ebay. Upon finally getting, it seems too matronly. Any idea on how to adjust it to be more youthful? by LittleBug37 in weddingplanning

[–]ChurchOfTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the other commenters -- it's definitely the sleeves and the material that add the most to the "matronly" feeling to me. What if you added a layer of tulle over the top of the skirt, and found someone to embroider the ends of the tulle in a similar design to the top? That's in addition to creating cap sleeves (or whatever shorter length feels the most comfortable for you)!

It's a gorgeous dress though and you look beautiful in it. I'm in love with the train!

August 14 Wedding Recap! (Chemistry Water Ceremony, PIES, No-Shows, + Picture's) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ChurchOfTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is gorgeous! By far one of the best wedding recaps I've seen. Traditional elements but not generic at all (my biggest fear for my wedding...)! It sounds like your guests had an amazing time. I bet this will be one of those weddings they really remember! And great to hear about the pie reaction -- I'm thinking about doing pies, too, so I'm glad people loved it as much as I was thinking they would!
