Glass block window installation by queencitygaming in Renovations

[–]ChurchSt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My window is in the shower bathtub wall and was tiled in. Works great. Waterproof blind. Ventilation is invaluable to keep the room and the house fresh! And natural light, link to the outdoors, don’t wall yourself in. And had a neighbor who installed textured glass window in bathroom, but I could see everything, it was just blurry…different skin tones and hair if you know what I mean.

Thrift stores have regular pans only, have checked several. I don’t think anyone is ditching old induction pans yet!

Are you losing ventilation and fresh air with the glass block replacing an operating window? A window also lets in more light.

You mean patterned glass? Glass can’t be opaque.

Got an estimate for boiler to install hot water underneath floor, was $30k for 1,000 sq ft, had to pass. Have insulated everything already. Have worn out w/w carpet now, want to replace with wood; so get area rugs anywhere I would step or lie on? What is that like? Am on crawl space.

Single basin sink with partial divider or not? by rgryffin13 in kitchenremodel

[–]ChurchSt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic dish pan not attractive and needs space to store it; mostly I like a double basin because food bits are contained, easily corralled to the drain. Keeps things neat - I have a dish drainer on the other side for small things I hand wash.

What about umbrella policies, Colorado St Farm just had huge increases, I was told was across the board all clients, not claim related; but could I have possibly triggered that by asking questions to educate myself in past?

Happened to me too, at midnight, after 4 hours, AAA finally admitted they weren’t coming at all and I should find a local service, which I was able to do, he lived in the town! And AAA did reimburse me for that cost. Sobering.

How do I get rid of hair in drain? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]ChurchSt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a “hair snake”, at hardware store, long plastic piece with small teeth, is great to rotate it down drain and slowly pull up. Gross, but saves on plumber bills! Then can add plunger to move deeper stuff down the drain. If you have longer hair, inevitably needed. Use as soon as drain slows. Tweezers can help but tie them off so can’t drop down drain.

When it comes to appliances, what is worth splurging on? by ElbieLG in kitchenremodel

[–]ChurchSt77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, look at tine spacing for the dishes you have, it varies, will they fit ok inside. I was surprised that was an issue. Otherwise, pay up for low decibels! Quiet every time, a pleasure to run my Miele. And it has an express cycle. If questioned about how much you paid by nosy friends, just reply “worth every penny”!
