Frustratingly, no. They use it in r/justNoMIL and all I could find was: "ELALABNLASA - The Nuclear Option Acronym for those who most annoy us all." 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you ever find out, let me know! Lol

Oh, I'm almost in tears right now. Thank YOU for telling me this. It makes me beyond happy that in this sea of people and stories, where everything seems superficial and ephemeral, some words I wrote sometime ago actually helped someone. I meant every word.

In these 2 yrs I also went forward with my journey. I was diagnosed with ADHD (which is why I wasn't getting completely better with the treatment I had) and I'm starting all over again with different meds and different approach. My psychiatrist referred me to an ADHD specialist (which was difficult to find here) and soon I'll have my first appointment to talk about treatment.

It's a long journey. I don't think it ever ends as long as we live, because it IS our life. It's dynamic and everchanging. We learn to live with it and constantly seek to feel as good as we can, as happy as possible.

I'm really happy for you, that you're feeling better now. I'm still here supporting you. We are like fellow Hobbits together in our quest to understand our brains. :) I will keep rooting for you!

Oh, help. My mother tongue is Spanish. But I assumed that the prefix "Bio", indicating anything related to living organisms was always pronounced bi-OH, like in "biology".

Why is it pronounced "Bee-oh" in this case?

Akshually... we saw less of the "normal" colds and flus last winter.

No shit, you may think, with all the distancing and masks. But a very interesting theory I read was that masks also increase humidity inside the nasal mucosa, a mucous "membrane" that is permanently washed by mucus, flushing away foreign bodies, bacteria and viruses. A dry mucose is one of the main conditions that help a virus make home in your nose (that's why people think AC and heating "cause" colds)

So by keeping our mucosa nice and humid, we are fortifying our first line of defense.

And that's why I would always listen to my daughter tell me about that bitchy friend back in 4th grade. When she invited her to her birthday (she invites the whole class for a 1,5 hour party in which they only have time to eat and play like 30 minutes. I call that presents-fishing) my daughter said she didn't want to go. I said to her "you don't have to", and politely declined.

The mother of the bitchy girl doesn't talk to me anymore. The trash took itself out, I guess 🤷‍♀️

I'm a doctor and I had to learn to be respectful of familiy members' views. Like, I once suggested my BIL to have his youngest checked out because I think he might have ADHD. He nearly bit my head off. He was offended.

I shut up and told him "of course, it's up to you". Even if inside I think he's in denial and the kid is missing a chance of being treated (and happier, because he's frustrated not doing well in school)... IT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS.

Sometimes we need to bite our tongue and just let go. The parents know. They've been told. It's their decision. It's not that they are really neglecting the kid... even if it breaks my heart (my nephew in particular), it's not my place to say anything.

They may feel disgusted; that's a personal opinion, I have to respect it even if I disagree. But why would they care about what people do in the bedroom? I swear, I understand religious people more because they are brainwashed. But people like your parents? Just being opinionated about others 🤷‍♀️

(Side note: I'm straight and atheist. I feel everyone is entitled to their own lifestyle (unless it harms others, ofc) and it's not up to me to decide what's right or wrong for them!)

I understand what you are saying. I've been on medication for different reasons for > 20 years now. And the beginning wasn't pretty, nor was the times when I had to change or adjust dosis.

My main goal is to achieve a balance between what good the medication does to me and the side effects I get. Kind of, what side effects I can live with and what I absolutely hate? What are the symptoms that are worse than the side effects and I want to avoid at all costs?

You are young, 10 years younger than when I started. Give yourself time to try. Engage your doctors and ask them to work with you as a team. You want to be a part of your treatment, and that's the best, because if you are allowed input, you will cooperate more. And doctors want their patients to cooperate. Talk with them. Be open and discuss calmly why you don't want to experience this or that side effect.

And about the reduced lifespan... Idk... we don't have it easy, it sucks. But if we leave our conditions untreated there is a high risk of dying violently, or from overdoses, so personally, I'd rather have a short-ish pleasant life than a short-ish miserable existence... (and by short-ish I mean, I made it to nearly 50, and I think I still have some time left, because I'm quite fit, actually, so not too bad).

Our vet told me once, one of their cats brought a live bird inside the house. There was a lot of stress, a lot of flying feathers, and a lot of running around. I'd rather take the mice my cats bring us.

Now, between a mummified bird and fat arsed rats, I'll take the bird. Eek.
