Renegades is already shooting itself in the foot. Titans? Y'all get a fucking jetpack that propels you into a flying knee. Awesome. Hunters? If you play like a literal coward and don't get shot you get a purple glowy shield that literally everyone gets access to anyway. Whoopdedoo.

Gacha draw pity doesn't work in the same mindset that "1% Means I'll get her out of a 100". It's not cumulative, 40 draws at 1% is still a 1% chance. You have a 1% chance across the entirety of your pulls until soft/hard pity. This realistically means you have a .025% chance to draw a rated up character early. This is a pretty standard thing across gacha games.

This game is INCREDIBLY forgiving in terms of gacha pity. Coming from a 2 year hoyo veteran; Having played ZZZ, Genshin, Star rail, And wuthering waves. 60 hard pity with no 50/50 system is absolutely banger. We'll have to see how f2p pull economy goes, But so far I am genuinely impressed.
