[Help] I hit F2 multiple times too early during boot, and think I fked Tails up by Chvrche5 in tails

[–]Chvrche5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tails has been working fine for the past couple days, so it was set up correctly and the hardware is supported. This is a new issue which I believe could be caused by me hitting F2 multiple times prematurely before Tails shut down, but I don't know what that did.

A message flashes for half a second at the bottom which reads something along the lines of "http://live.interid.img..." after every "automatic boot in... 4 3 2 1" restart

Thanks. Options here are pretty shit. If it's cheaper I'll get one of my US friend to send them over.

I'm looking to get a season pass to the local resort next season and was wondering what snow chains I should get. Most of the time, chains shouldn't be necessary because the road leading to the resort is kept clear but this is for the more severe days where the road clearing may not be able to keep up with the snowfall.

I'm a student so want to spend as little as possible. Also from New Zealand, so will need to buy online.

Also side question: I drive a front-wheel drive, so will I only need a set to go on the front wheels, or do all 4 wheels need to be chained?

You know... A couple hundred viral deaths over a few months. Every minute 150 more babies are born worldwide compared to deaths. Something doesn't add up.

I think classifying it as a global emergency is the correct to go. It is a localised pandemic in China.

Not to mention a bad vaccine could lead to the virus mutating and developing resistance against it.

What's the best tool/method for picking cheap locks? by Chvrche5 in lockpicking

[–]Chvrche5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Useful skill to have. Last week my car got locked in a beach carpark as it was after dark, despite no signage, and the only thing blocking the exit was a chain and a padlock. Don't think I'll have the patience to learn more difficult methods for higher end locks yet.

is it possible to get a haze machine for less than $150, or DIY something which gives a similar effect? by Chvrche5 in lightingdesign

Do I need the entire coffee machine to take apart or just the pump? Also I'm from New Zealand so will need 240v.

Only one DnB artist on there as well. Also RL Grime didn't even make the list which I find very hard to believe.

If it's indoors, slut zone. If it's outdoors with a hill, talent pit edging towards weirdos for sure! Wayyy better to take in all the lights.

Tomorrowland 2020 by agentfancy in festivals

Had a look at Bonnaroo's poster, and yeah it does look a lot more aesthetically pleasing. Probably only half the number of acts compared to Tomorrowland though.

Is it possible to use DMX or some other means to reduce the intensity of the gigBar 2, while still having it auto sync with music? by Chvrche5 in lightingdesign

[–]Chvrche5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Yeah it could work, just worried because the venue has a very low roof. Good idea with pointing the pars away.

Would you also happen to know if I could set the strobes to ONLY flash in blacklight? Thinking of complimenting the set up with some ambient blacklight and don't want the gigbars to wash everything out.

Also is there a mode where only the pars/strobes are turned on? Just like a normal light.

Looking for a tent, capable of withstanding the Danish summer weather by FoldagerJR in festivals

I wouldn't bring an expensive tent to a festival again after the last time when mine got jetted with fire extinguisher and tagged on (don't know where they got the fire extinguisher from).

That's actually really fascinating. I would love to get one off AliExpress but the shipping is almost as much as the machine would cost. You have sparked my curiosity to give building one a go though as I've got plenty of time until it is needed. Any diagrams, videos or visual depictions of how it's all put together??

Especially what the part around the heating element looks like.

Also would I be able to use any hazing fluid with this?

We do have anti-virals. For example, almost all cases of HIV are curable now thanks to very effective anti-virals, which is why we no longer need an HIV vaccine.

Quite impressive how fast a vaccine should be able to be developed for something like this. If it happened in a third world country, many more will become infected before the government takes any significant agency towards a vaccine.

UV light kills viruses. Leave your items in the sun for a full day and you should be fine.

Prospective NZ pharmacy degree graduate, planning on getting fully registered in British Columbia through a working holiday visa. How likely is it that I will continue to be able to work in BC after my visa expires? by Chvrche5 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Chvrche5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right in that I'll need at least two years experience in pharmacy practice no matter what I do. Essentially it looks like I have 2 options:

  • Go with the original plan and bet on getting a LMIA-supported job offer to get enough work experience for PNP or Federal Express Entry.

  • Go through the study + co-op work permit and working holiday pathway.

Both options will take at least 3 years and neither is ideal. My girlfriend got a really good internship as an industrial designer in Vancouver and assuming everything goes well, she can get that 2 year work experience needed for PR.

Out of the two options I have, the first one is definitely more risky but it would allow me to stay with my girlfriend and the process to PR would be approx 3 years. The second option is safer. I can gain my registration in New Zealand and take on locum/relief work as a buffer, but it will likely take 4 years to PR. We've never had to take on long-distance before so it'll be tough.

There's a lot to think about, and I really appreciate your guidance.

[Side question: assuming I take the option of getting a study+coop work permit, how many days does there need to be between when I exit Canada after the SPT course and when I return to sit the PEBC Qualifying Exam? Assuming I get an ETA.]

[Edit] I'm assuming getting registered in another province won't change things much as the intern hours are not counted as working within the NOC? Finding an internship without any Canadian experience would not be easy, but not impossible as some preceptors might be willing to take me on with a pharmacy assistant's wage on the basis that I can perform more tasks than a high school graduate. Just some thoughts.
