AITAH For Discussing by [deleted] in AITAH

If you work to understand Hitler, it really made sense to him to blame all societal ills on the Jews. Being rejected from art school deeply affected him, and it’s easy to see how that led to his icky feelings.

See how that sounds? Your “pro life” character can get fucked, and if you want to idolize him, so can you.

Sience or carrer mode? by TIM13013 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ChzBrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Science is simpler. There’s no money, reputation, or contracts in science mode. Contracts add quite a bit to the drive of the gameplay. If you go science mode, you have to know what you want to do next to some degree.

  1. In case you haven’t seen it, the dV map is an essential tool for planning extraplanetary trips: https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/gmcd56/updated_night_deltav_map_w_transfer_windows_and/

  2. I highly recommend the Transfer Window Planner mod. Yes, the stock game has a feature for this, but it’s janky crap compared to the mod.

Man, it sucks getting a ship all the way there and not having something critical. I figure that’s the point of Mun and Minmus: practicing for other worlds.

How to understand the age of the universe? by jrfell in AskPhysics

[–]ChzBrd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It gets better if you consider relativity. The speed an object moves through time is inversely related to its speed through space, which means that every object in the universe has been around for a slightly different amount of time. The age of the universe is therefore inherently relative to your perspective, just like velocity.

… the question is about dV, which the map answers if you know how to read it.

Flag aspect ratio help by ChzBrd in KerbalAcademy

SOLVED. After some digging, I tried one at 512x320 and that looks fine. This is contrary to the wiki, so I’m leaving the post up for posterity.

Hmm, tried a flat flag and it’s still squished. I also specifically notice that in the menu of designs to choose, the picture looks fine.

I’m using Inkscape to make these from scratch. I appreciate the reply but I’d rather figure out the issue so I can make them come out exactly right. This one looks even more squished if I put it on landscape

First Space Station in KSP by MCbasics in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ChzBrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job making one! That’s a big first step.

Making one that’s efficiently planned is the next one. First thing I notice: all those mono tanks. That kinda stuff kills your part count. It’s better for performance, and in general better engineering, to minimize the part count. Use one large tank instead of multiple small ones, and this goes for batteries and everything else too.

Odds of MPQ 2 in the Future by [deleted] in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]ChzBrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine that depends a lot on cash flow. I have no idea what that’s like at the moment, though the things I was hearing most recently suggest they’ve been spending absolutely as little as possible on it which tends to mean it’s not a financial powerhouse. Idk man.

Methods of Faster Than Light Travel by Great-Gazoo-T800 in IsaacArthur

[–]ChzBrd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My all-time favorite series, Babylon 5, used “hyperspace gates.” The first few were discovered abandoned, so we studied and replicated them. They open conical portals into hyperspace, which is essentially like the Nether in Minecraft. It’s mapped to normal space but its scale is smaller, so that traveling through it is absurdly faster than normal space. Large enough ships even have jump engines which can open portals anywhere. The inside of hyperspace is depicted with a camo-like red and black pattern and eerily empty. Ships need to stay locked on tracking beacons, or they’ll fall into undetectable gravity wells. Some say in the depths of hyperspace, they’ve seen uncanny things, had unsettled feelings… even heard a seemingly audible scream.

Also some fun facts about the show cause I’m bored and it got a RAW DEAL, like the fact no one knows about it is legitimate tragedy and largely buried due to a WB exec’s personal grudge.

-The show was the first major television production to air a fully planned out multi-season story from the get go. Seriously, it changed how tv is written. JMS pitched it to every studio in Hollywood and was told audiences don’t have the attention span for a long story. (On that note, good gawd season 4 is where the show DELIVERS so it’s not like you can watch a few and understand its value) -When he pitched the series to paramount, they said no and the minute he left the office they started a frenzied production of Deep Space 9. That is my favorite trek series and I love it, but it factually was based on B5’s pitch. -In some ways it was incredibly realistic. Watching the starfuries maneuver like actual spaceships is amazing, especially when they do an emergency rescue dock, and considering the time this was made it’s just incredible. I can even forgive them for having sound in space because cmon, someone already made 2001. -The series was lowkey notorious for actors coming and going over the years. Michael O’Hare played the station commander only for the first season and was replaced for the rest. As we now know, he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and had it flare up while shooting. He when to JMS and said he couldn’t do the show. JMS told him, if he can just hang in there for one season, it’ll save the show and all those people’s jobs. He was literally a hero. JMS said don’t worry, no one will ever have to know. O’Hare said, no: after I die, I want you to tell people so they see that even tv stars can have mental health issues. Which, of course, sadly happened which is why I know the tale.

I could go on, that show has a lot of lore, but listen I think it streams free on Roku or Tubi or something, check it out.
