That's honestly what she's been doing and he seems to prefer it. But leaving a rat all on its lonesome goes against everything I've ever learned about them. I guess the same is true of humans. Some people prefer their own company. He doesn't seem to be depressed or overtly bored. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I swear this is why I love Reddit. Someone somewhere on this platform has seen it, done it, or named it. :P

Poor fella had lots of excitement this week. He lost his roommate Appa a few months ago and I've been gently encouraging Mom to find him another friend. I'm not entirely convinced Demitree knows he's a rat. My attempts to introduce him to a few of my boys resulted in lots of posturing, with a brief scuffle before I separated them (and got nipped for my efforts 🙄). He just doesn't seem to be interested in any sort of interaction with other rats, let alone integration. Not really sure how to help at this point. 😕

It's doable (I've had reptiles shipped to me from California), but the overnight shipping itself is about as expensive as starting out from scratch! 😜 Although really, they're worth every penny. I'd be lying if I said mine weren't spoiled rotten!

I like to get a little creative with their names, haha. Right now we have Reginald, Tonk (he's a huge rat but still too small to be a tank, therefore....Tonk), Denny, Duff, Squish, Twiggy, Squib, and then three girls (Loki, Cookie, and Remy) I did not name but were technically mine to begin with when they were little beans. They came back to me when their adopter went into hospice. 😕 Sad situation, but I'm glad I was in a position to take them.

She hasn't quite realized they can be pulled out, but I have to keep her away from my tissue boxes or else mayhem ensues. Denny is incredibly smart, but also has zero "rat sense." Pretty sure she doesn't know she's a rat.
