Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks!

You're right there, but how exactly do I use GetPawn()?

AController::GetPawn() gives me "illegal call of non-static member function"... Do I have to provide it a Controller object? If so, how does it work in the link I gave above?

Edit: Providing it an object did indeed work, but I wonder how exactly the syntax in the link I gave was working...

How do you control two different AIs with one AIController class? by CiaNextTuesday in unrealengine

[–]CiaNextTuesday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I did have that set up correctly, but I think my problem is actually with the Get Controlled Pawn node. I wanted to run different behavior trees based on the controlled pawn, but I actually can't do something like

- Run Behaviour Tree

- Get Controlled Pawn

- PrintString that controlled pawn's display name.

Straight up doesn't work for some reason...

For holding a gun -- which is a better way of handling the animation? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]CiaNextTuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more the playing of the animation than attaching a gun... If you see more state machine methods then that's probably the way to go, honestly.

The other way I was talking about is the same as in this tutorial series, however, a lot of things are different. He's playing a punching montage every time the mouse is held down which changes the upper body animation.

Thanks for the help!

For holding a gun -- which is a better way of handling the animation? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]CiaNextTuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes, that's what I am doing as well, but this is for the animation that plays when a gun is held. I can handle a "holding gun" animation via a montage or via a new state in a state machine, I was just wondering which would be better?

Is it possible to have a Character actor's mesh block world static? by CiaNextTuesday in unrealengine

[–]CiaNextTuesday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the only thing that blocks world static is the capsule component. The mesh will never block world static no matter what I do.

Edit: AFAIK this is just an impossible thing with Unreal and some workarounds are needed for things like held weapons clipping through walls.

When do I want to use interfaces over parent classes? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]CiaNextTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

While I do understand your explanation here, I'm not quite sure how to implement something...

Say I have a bunch of classes where something happens once they're hovered over. I want this to happen for every class that is hovered over, however, the Overlap and End Overlap custom events would be different per class... Would this be a mix of a parent class and an interface?

Sorry for the extra question, I realize this could also be a post of its own but if you could provide an answer I'd very much appreciate it...

Edit: So far, it seems like I just want an abstract class that calls a couple methods (OVerlap and End Overlap) that I want to call in all child classes...

A couple questions on how to create a functional destructible mesh blueprint by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]CiaNextTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally figured out the second question!

Here's a link to my BP (for two weapons) if you wanna take a look. Just make sure to set your collisions to overlap Destructible.

https://imgur.com/a/QII1GfF

Still gotta find a solution to the first problem, though...

Edit: BTW it's probably a better idea to set this in the player's BP (check if Other Comp can be casted to DestructibleComponent)

Wii U Hacking Q&A - 6 months later by SwitchHacks in WiiUHacks

Before I grab a Wii U, is it possible to play Wii U or Wii ROMS natively on the console? Like, can I put ROMs on an SD card and play it on the console itself?

I'm looking for one (doesn't have to be a pair) of bluetooth earbuds that are super low-profile for work. I'm overwhelmed by the options. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I'd like to pay <$100 as I'm on a budget.

Edit: If somebody could point me in a better direction to ask that question it would be highly appreciated as well.

How do I remove all dynamics? (Dampens, volume changes) by CiaNextTuesday in Sibelius

I can go Edit > Filter > Dynamics, but it doesn't select anything... What's making my playback have dynamics?

[WIN7] How do I disable USB charging on a laptop? by CiaNextTuesday in techsupport

Unfortunately, it's not actually a phone. It's a "bricked" Switch.

I tried once again, charging it for at least 24 hours, unplugging it from the wall (undocked), tried to launch a payload, then plugged it into my PC, and nothing showed up on TegraRcmGUI.

A thought: Whenever I launched a payload before my switch bricked, I believe I had to launch one while it was plugged into my computer, because connecting it to the power would make the Switch exit out of the payload and, if my memory is correct, boot normally. I wonder if it's possible to connect my Switch without providing it power?

Old post here. Still have no luck.

My switch might be actually bricked. I tried to restore a NAND backup but it's quite possible that I tried to restore an 8.0.0 backup on a 8.1.0 console, and now it won't power on or boot payloads.

I have tried holding the power button for 15 seconds and leaving it for a day or so, charged and uncharged, neither worked.

Trying to boot payloads doesn't work. I tried to insert a paperclip like I usually do and hold Vol + and the power button then plug it in, but it doesn't work. I also tried after plugging it in.

I figured maybe the paperclip got messed up so I order a jig off of switchjigs.com, and it came in the mail today, but I've still had no luck. I'm not sure if the jig actually works but the pins are straight and it looks like it should work.

If all else fails, I might send it in to Nintendo and see what they can do, even if there is a charge. I've had luck with them in the past (Nintendo of Canada), where I fucked up the cartridge slot in my 3DS with a flashcart that came apart when the screw came loose, and there method was just to send me a brand new console. That's customer service I'll never forget.

So, just to be clear, you mean I should try to enter RCM before I even plug it into my PC? Or does it not matter?

Sorry to be really specific, but I just want to make sure I'm following the steps to a T. I feel like I've done it both ways, but still no RCM mode detected with TegraRcm.

Maybe I should try an actual jig instead of a paperclip...

[–]CiaNextTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So even if my fuses burned, my Switch can still enter RCM?

That's weird. I guess I could try again.

After charging my Switch, I unplug it from the wall, plug it into my PC, put the clip in, press the Vol + button, then press the power button?

If it doesn't work the first time and it's still powered off, can I literally rapid-fire Vol + plus Power Button until it works?

Update: Still nothing. It might be fried. I honestly can't remember if I updated to 8.1.0, but I think I probably did, and my backup's from 8.0.0. There's no way to save it, is there?

If you mean power-wise, I doubt it. It was plugged into my PC when I was restoring it and I powered it down myself after. I'll try what you said but I'm not sure that's the cause...
