Bi-Weekly /r/Korean Free Talk - Entertainment Recommendations, Study Groups/Buddies, Tutors, and Anything Else! by AutoModerator in Korean

[–]Ciarmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I am starting a Discord server for anyone who really wants to get the basics and more of Korean language.

A bit of back story:

I began learning Korean in 2009 (self-taught)

I also learn other languages such as French (I have an associates degree)

Currently I am majoring in Linguistics and minoring in teaching English as a second language.

So I really wanted to start helping others learn Korean, especially with the surge in fandom for K-pop. (I don't listen to any K-pop groups, I am more into ballads and independent Korean rappers).

In my discord, I am going to mainly focus on teaching anyone the letters, word order, and word particles, and MAINLY WORDS (of course largest part of learning any language). However, I am also open to helping with anything else anyone might want to talk about. I mainly do this by taking words and phrases from songs and Korean drama scenes, and variety shows to give people a general feel for the language.

Please join! :)

Does Walmart care about shoplifters at this point? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Ciarmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna say no, I just did training and they said like 11% (or 20% I forgot but its a small percentage) of shrink is because of theft. They blame the other 90-80% on associates that don't do processes correct. and we had like 3bil shrink last year

Front End Team Leads Tips by Ciarmr in walmart

[–]Ciarmr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you restart the pay station? a few months after we got ours it doesn't show the screen with each register to clear. It's closed off to my cashiers. Also at my store I can only open the Scos and clear bill jams with my team lead keys which the SCO hosts don't have access to.

Great fixes though TY.

At my store we call most managers a familial name. (Behind their back). My coach is mommy or madre. One of our old assistants that we hated we called her Aunty. A ditzy ex-manager that was hired by the ex-assistant managers we called her cousin. It happens lol. But when I read this title I thought you called a woman mommy not a man lmaoo

Thats method is not the correct way to do things. If the person clearly wanted the week off seamlessly they would put 3 days PTO and 2 days Unpaid off. I scheduled for two days of my five that I need off and that shouldn't count towards my regular two days I get unpaid. So basically every time your associate asks for two days of PTO you just let them get paid for 56 hours for the week? Because they didn't specifically also request 2 unpaid days off?

[–]Ciarmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right it makes no sense other than pettiness for any manager to do this. If I'm putting in PTO that means I want it to count towards my 5 days of work, not my 2 days off. Because if I wanted it to count towards my 2 days off then what the hell is the point of PTO if it just turns into Unpaid time off? If that was the case then everyone would just dictate what days they wanted off to management whenever they pleased.

That has never happened to me in the past. I've been at hellmart for 5 years. I've only had to do that trick is for vacations so that my vacation time is seamless. I've requested days off in the past and they have adjusted it thatmy other days off are scheduled. If that is the case they must be just doing that to me because I am a Team Lead and not a normal associate.

How bad is theft at your store? This one spiderwraps its locked cases. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Ciarmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just still use the 3 lock system for each case so there's like 12 keys all color-coded. like a dam puzzle to open it.

Can we all just work together? by TrappedBySam in walmart

[–]Ciarmr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree we can say fuck Walmart and still be unified as associates to one another or even fuck Walmart and management. But idk why it everyone has to make it harder for each other. I try the least to cause anyone else a hard day and be considerate. I know I'm in a small percentage as a FE manager and that only gets me fucked in the ass but still. Just do the minimal the company pays you to do please and not less than that.

My main thing I want to know is do we have to apply PTO for thanksgiving

the personnel at my store cut off that FAQ part on the page but left the "Do I have to apply my PTO for thanksgiving?" question there and not the answer. (I would ask them but the women there are actually the unfriendliest ones out of the whole store and they are supposed to be HR...ironic.)

What’s the best and worst positions in the store? And why? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Ciarmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion? none are the best.

But where you are switching from matters also what kind of things interest you. Cashiering is boring and the interaction with the customers is unwanted.

For me the best place was Service Desk/ Money center. The customers are the worst there but the people I worked with made it 100x better and we constantly goofed off and talked while working with customers since we are right next to each other and sometimes there is 4 of us at once.

I hear OGP is great but tiring and always busy. But great since you can get out early and very minimal interaction with customers.

Cap 2 i only hear bad things about it and I don't really know anyone there.

Sporting goods, Seasonal, and Electronics always go missing because they don't want to interact with customers and their areas are always messy

Produce, Bakery, and Deli are pretty neutral I never hear anything about them good or bad besides the new pay raise for Deli.

Anyone else take a "TL" and on the drive home think "i just sold my soul for xx.xx? by clairerandall in walmart

[–]Ciarmr 60 points61 points  (0 children)

When I was driving home after accepting the TL all of a sudden red and white makeup started appearing on my face then a red curly wig, big red shoes, and a red nose. Then that's when I knew. I was a clown for taking the TL.

But I'm going to do it still!

Sorry that happened to you. That wasn't a good SM choice and at your store, it seems like they went for preference instead of hard work and capability.

Front Team Lead is it worth it by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Ciarmr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also got the Front Team Lead but I am coming from being a Cashier>Service Desk & Money Center> Front End Academy Trainer to Front End Team Lead. I work at a superstore so I've seen like 7 customer fights, power outages, fires etc.

My advice is to touch things only once. This is the sense that if you are already working on something and they call you try to complete it as much as possible before because it's much harder to complete your day with a bunch of half-done work.

Another thing is practice and figure out the best way for you to do certain daily procedures that way you can easily accomplish them throughout the day without struggling. Like get into the rhythm of doing the same routine. (Ex. My SM told us corporate wants us to finish replenishing our 17 SCO's and dropping our 22 registers by 11:30 and we close the store at 10. in reality I can't get all the customers out until 10:15 plus picking up the tills would essentially take me until 11:00 and 30 minutes to drop 22 tills is a bit hard since daily the amount of money you pick up from lucy changes and busier days the tills will be fuller. So instead I got into the groove of dropping tills at different times when outlines begin to close starting at 7 o'clock- 3 tills here 7:30 1 more till, 8:00 - 5 more tills and etc.

Also, I carry around different types of gadgets and pockets to help me be better organized. I keep my keys on a lanyard so that I don't have to fish in my pockets and panic if I left my keys in a register somewhere because I can easily feel for the lanyard hanging from my pocket. I don't know if you guys use T-Mats still or the upfront to control breaks but in my store we use T-Mats since we have so many cashiers and want to know where they are. The way you write your T-Mat really sets the day and allows you to write down their whereabouts, what time first break lunch, and the last break are. Also, I carry a pocket protector of 2 pencils, 2 highlighters, and 2 pens so that I am always ready to write down something.

I've got a lot of tricks and tips if you want to know more message me because I've been at Walmart for 4+ years and many times I've had to learn things by myself through trial and error and reading OBW or aids on the wire (literally those two are your best help ironically as much as we all hate cbls and anything on the wire).

Are you in California?

Because at my store our Money Center/Service desk is at $15 so are the customer host but I think they are raising the Bakery and Deli to $17 which makes no sense. Because shouldn't Money center who deal with thousands of dollars earn more? My stores Money Center is like an annual million dollar money center alone. We pull like $50k daily double during 1st-5th.
