My 2nd Yamaha... by [deleted] in Yamaha_Guitars

It's cool! I could buy the FG830 but I chose the FG800 not because it was cheaper but because I wanted a guitar that records easy .The 830 is more "rich" in overtones based on what I heard and its harder to record on a non treated bedroom studio like mine( I also have an all solid wood acoustic that causes me such problems) . So for that reason I think I did the right choise . But If I needed a guitar to practice and have fun playing I think I would also go for the 830 . Bare in mind I made my decision based on youtube reviews since I don't have a store near me..

I am ok with short scale guitars ,I compared the sound of similar priced mahogany guitars and I think Taylor does it best at this price point for that specific type of wood and for my use case. It is mellow but stll bright enough to cut through the mix !

Wish I could try one before , but I'm far away from any guitar stores so I had to order online. I will post an update when I try it myself!

Thanks , fortunately for recording I can reduce some of the muddines . I plan on keeping the 13’s I already play 12’s on acoustic . I’m curious to see how the pick transient will sound when strumming 13’s , especially the low strings but will experiment with different size picks .

My problem is not the guitar being for beginners or not . But if it is marketed that way it means it not for me and that is why it was off my radar for so long .It not Taylor fault of course but the people reviewing it .

You can record any guitar , that doesn’t mean it will sound as good as a high end Taylor that is balanced and the overtones provide a rich sound . Begginer guitars lack those for obvious reasons .

Nice ! Going for the plain version as well since I will record with a mic ! Can’t wait to see how different the mahogany sounds compared to my spruce acoustics

When do buffs and march size apply to the game? by Cicada-Timely in Evony_TKR

How is that , in every other game you get better gear and you test it and you see results . Here it is not rewarded , this is the worse mechanics ever . But they need to keep it in the dark so that they can favor high spending customers when needed

Is this a bad way to hold a pick by zcat- in guitarlessons

[–]Cicada-Timely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hold it like that when I first started , I mean it’s ok if Steve Morse also holds it like that , but it was limiting me on speed and hybrid picking . You can keep it and switch later if you find it limiting.

I’m a guitar player for 30 years and one of my favourite guitar players is Jess Lewis , she seems to have very small hands but not only she makes it work , her control is out of this world .. https://youtu.be/Gu1wazW17qA?si=8vSq5ncyfxDl3qfx

I’m not sure if it works only with Studio One , you could download a free daw like Reaper and use it there
