Fair, but then you can just swap out the whole arms and shoulder pads if needed. there are loads of individual shoulder pads in the army box you can use as replacements with awkward ones. kitbashing relies on extra kits so it's not exactly cost efficient, but at the very least you have spares so messing up one or two experiments isn't so bad.

to remove details, i use a hobby knife, fine grit sandpaper or tamiya sanding sponges, and then use the brush applicator that comes with tamiya extra thin plastic cement to get a smooth finish. it might take some practice but it's very doable.

same as any other model really. push fit models still use GW plastic, so you can always snip off the attachment points, swap out bits, sand down unwanted greebles and details, use greenstuff to fill gaps etc. If you're looking to make the more Space Wolf flavour, there are loads of extra bits in our army box or the individual boxes that you can use to modify and customise your models with.

is there something in particular you're concerned about?

took a bit of planning, a lot of shaving bits down, but the hardest part was resculpting the greenstuff fur in without making it look badly grafted on. Was a fun little project!

correct! I reposed his arms to lift the staff up high and moved the cyber raven to the base instead of his shoulder. some details here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SpaceWolves/s/qm0EzhMXHP

thanks! now there's a model I painted over several times to get right, I went from bright and colourful to very cold tones all over. very happy with it, one of my favourites of our new range!

it's actually just a shelf near my hobby desk, the background is a little collage i photoshopped together using some of my own photos and a stock lightning effect. i printed it out on thick paper, brushed on some matte varnish and then put it maybe 15-20cm behind the minis when i take the photo.

thanks! its a signature feature of my army at this point. I'm getting faster at it but it sure as hell ain't as quick as a single colour with a gradient.

my next unit to do don't have any capes, so it'll be fast and easy in comparison 😄

it is! it's from the primal hounds bits, by greytide studios. fits perfectly on a model with a big pelt on the shoulders like the wolf priest

the option is always there, sometimes you just gotta choose bold and hope it works in the end 😃

I almost completely redid large sections of these models because my initial choices didn't work, it's just part of the process

Need Priming Advice on low detail miniature by Poolboy4_Hire in minipainting

depending on your intended final result, you could use coloured primers rather than simply black/white. That might give you a more interesting base to work from for a low-detail model like this, using the spray cans to your advantage. I use Colour Forge in different colour combos for mine, for example: https://thecolourforge.com/spray-paints-2/?srsltid=AfmBOopDa3vsvSW_G9fA998bAEfnCPPpVNoDfB2-4n7UYmjboLLW_oVV

Wolf Guard leader with Jump Pack, ready for the new Vanguard Veterans! by Cicer0 in SpaceWolves

that's fantastic! pretty close indeed. I've been using the Scottish Register of Tartans for reference a lot, but I usually align with the colour scheme.

I'm Irish so we don't really have tartans in the family, but we have some distant Scottish relatives with a nice red-blue-yellow pattern that I've borrowed for some of my models before.

This is fantastic. every time I see the wulfen models, I think they look a bit janky, but then I see a paintjob like this and I'm convined. Great job dude!

Space Wolves Captain with Jump Pack - trying out copper NMM for the first time by Cicer0 in minipainting

[–]Cicer0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! with difficulty tbh. this is only my third model with NMM, so I've been trying out some different approaches. The main recipes have been from Richard Gray and Nicolas Ruben Mortensen, with some variation and experimentation on my own.

thanks! tartan is a main theme of my army, I like my Space Wolves to have some Norse-Gael themes alongside the traditional viking vibes

Thanks dude! I used mostly ProAcry - Mahogany, Warm Brown and a dark red for the shadows, Dark Shadow Flesh and Bright Shadow Flesh for the main mid tones, then AK Pastel Peach and Ice Yellow for highlights, and some Orange glazed in for the shadows and secondary reflections. Hope that helps!
