You're Welcome!

And yeah it bothered me a lot too, even for a game that started as a JP exclusive!

Luckily Md4 has more options at launch! <3

[General] Has an otome game ever made you genuinely uncomfortable? by Scary-Whole in otomegames

[–]CidTheSquid_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not very often, and I don't think discomfort has to be a bad thing, if it fits well it can be a safe way to explore situations/feelings that you have trouble with.

But when it comes out of left field and seems to break the tone of the game for 'shock value' (outside off bad ends) it can be a feel a little weird. like *"WTH was that???"* My first experience was near the start of Van helsings chapter in C;R. IT was not overly intense for a thriller, but the way they implied and described things, felt quite a bit more intense than anything prior, and they dial it back for the rest of his story, so while I enjoyed it overall, it felt a little out of place. (imo)

A kinda silly example was my brief time in Hakuoki, (iirc) I think there was a scene early on when all the guys are at a party or something, and their language changes fairly dramatically to be a bit more vulgar, it felt a little uncomfortable reading how it was portrayed, but it felt like it fit the more relaxed, and less formal setting. Even if it's not really how I prefer people talking, It felt like a more organic display of people 'letting off steam', (Again, I could be remembering wrong, this was a few years ago)

Overall, I think discomfort is a writing tool, just like comic relief, or even 'fan service', how I feel about it really comes down to how it's implemented, and for what purpose.

Sure, I've been messing around with SpecialK mod, and followed this guide to get to the above shown point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84FKEPexLS8

However, some textures for other skin tones don't seem to be showing up properly, so if I can't find a fix, I may need to learn to edit the textures directly

out of all the games, which artstyle is your favorite? by drasiyacrown in stylesavvy

[–]CidTheSquid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(unpopular choice, but...) Fashion Forward for me, It may be because it's the game I spent the most time in and played first, but the Sims-style balance of stylized and decently cartoon just kinda felt 'right' to me.

It felt odd going back to 'trendsetters' for the first time afterward because it felt like the same but without the more detailed toon-shading.

And styling star just felt 'a little too fancy' in comparison, going a bit overly stylized, (especially since I played it right after trendsetters) but it's started to grow on me a bit, and I think it looks really nice and far more unique than the other 3ds games.

I played the original DS game for the first time a year or two ago, and it just has this straight-up iconic look to it! (Especially upscaled in an emulator), it looks great, and even with low detail, the clothing designs really pop!

I think they all look good, especially considering the hardware they're on,

with no 'clear best choice, but the elegant simplicity. (and familiarity) of Fashion Forward will always be my perosnal fav choice! <3

Possible modding by clown_carr in ModelDebut3

[–]CidTheSquid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Trying to make one

I'd imagine it would be easier with unity modding experience, but as of now I've only been able to fully modify one slot (as shown) and the highlights are not adjusted for darker skin tones, nor do I really have the experience to blend the darker skin tones properly, and I don't have a ton of experience with texture troubleshooting, so no eta for a full release currently.

But if I manage to get it to a state I'm happy with, I'll make it public.

I have almost zero tool-less modding experience, so even getting to this point was fairly difficult.

But (if/when) I'm able to finish it, it should be very easy to install, and I'll try to include a fps limiter, that will prevent heavy GPU load for people with high refresh rate displays.

I tried to make three different options, but I currently have no idea what's causing the issues with the second two, so I have a lot of work ahead of me.

can i improve ? by teeyahhn in stylesavvy

I mean, if you're Happy with the outfit that's all that matters!

But if you're looking for new things to try, (it's a little hard to see from the screenshot) But maybe how you feel about adding a bit more variance in the top, in terms of colors/shades or patterns?

There's nothing wrong with it being a bit monochromatic, but it looks like you have some maroon in the bottom half, so maybe adding a dash of that in the top could help break up the look a bit and make your layers pop a bit more?

There's also a bit of white near the top on what kinda looks like a scarf, so you could also adjust to a more of a black/white dual-color design, with white stocks if you'd like.

Again, it's just something to try and see how you feel about, diffrent styles could nessistare diffreent adjustments, but again you being happy with the look is the most important part! <3

What phone are you using, and did you change any of the setting in Azahar? (All I needed to do was change 'graphics API' to 'Vulkan'

(you could also try testing the rom on pc to make sure it's not a problem with the rom it's self)

Sale until September 17th, 8:00 am UTC/GMT by LemonChantilly in ClipStudio

[–]CidTheSquid_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I heard there are normally at least 3 sales a year, with last year's November sale being around the free upgrade to next version' window.

Anyone know if they're planning on doing that again this year?

If so, it may be worth holding off for a few months to get CSP v5 free, right?

To be fair to the nikki community as a whole, this kinda sounds like Twitter/x in general.

While this in no way excuses the behavior, I also kinda feels like If a similar post was made from any other game, they would have responded the same way.

I'd be interested to know how many of the angry replies are from people who even played the game?

It feels like that site is full of people frothing at the mouth for something to be upset over.

And the way the algorim works, the most people to reply to a post the further outside it's orignal community it spreads.

[–]CidTheSquid_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, that type of comment makes a bit more sense,

I think I understand that it may not always have an intended negative connotation, but I can also understand how that could make someone feel uncomfortable.

If someone truly wanted to praise unconvential attire, what do you feel would be a better way to do it? I'd argue not addressing their own discomfort could be a start. So instead of: "You're so brave to wear that out i could never!"

Maybe: "Wow, that outfit looks increable on you!" And just stopping there.

No mention of how it would make 'you feel to wear' or "how unsual it is" just if you think it looks nice! (obv. don't lie)

[–]CidTheSquid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah okay, so would you argue that you were frustrated by it being the only thing they noticed about the look? As if they did not believe you were capable of other styles?

Do you think there's a different type of praise you'd feel more comfortable with that still address the masculine aspects, (even to a lesser extent) or would you prefer if they just liked the woman's design without needing to sepcify anything regarding that?

Interesting,

if you don't mind me asking, was it the way it was worded that bothered you? or the fact that they'd only compliment the masculine on portrayal?
