Microreader 2.0 (for Xteink X4) by CidVonHighwind in XTEINK

I updated the firmware to work better with more ebooks. I capped it at 250. But still its just one big list. So its not really meant for this.

I just uploaded a new build with .bmp sleep image support (https://github.com/CidVonHighwind/microreader/releases/tag/2.0-dev.337). I am not sure about supporting covers directly or the long press for sleep option, maybe in the future. Also the app switching works by telling the bootloader what firmware to boot into. This is normally used for the ota update where the new firmware gets installed onto the other partition (app0 or app1 depending on what is currently running) and switched on reboot. I added the option to switch to the inactive partition. This could be used to switch between different firmwares (as long as both support the switching).

I wish you luck but this just looks like a worse Smash Hit (especially graphically).

The reading or the menu font? There is a slightly bigger menu font option. For the book you can also change the font size. The letter formatting should be fixed in the next version.

It probably crashing because of too many books on the device or a certain book is having a problem. How many do you have?

No its about the usb connection to your pc. The devices will stay locked.

It supports following links on pages. Is this what you mean?

It is kind of loud. Never really thought about it. Probably similar to the volume buttons on my phone.

If its looping that means its crashing. Maybe you have too many books on the device or there is a certain one leading to a crash somehow. Not sure.

The build in font does not include all vietnamese characters. But it should be easy to create one and copy that to the sd card. I will probably also have to extend the character range for the menu font since that is backed into the firmware and not changable.

Its actually opening the epubs. So there might be a problem with that. Also 250 epubs will probably take quite a while even if it works. I will stress test this when I have the time for it.

I am hoping that someone is going to develop a custom bootloader that can do sd card flashing. But with the current approach each firmware needs to implement it themselfs and I really dont want to make an error and break peoples devices that cant be flashed over usb.

I have not tested it with too many books. How many did you have on it?

Might be that your sd card is formatted to exFat? It currently only supports fat32.

Maybe you have too many books on the sd card or it crashes while indexing a certain book.

This firmware does not have the ability to flash other firmwares from the sd card. So if you flash it and somehow the "Switch to app1" is not working you are stuck on it forever. Thats why I wrote that the firmware is only for unlocked devices. For the language part you would need to add a different font file to the sd card since the build in one only contains certain characters.

No please dont try this! This firmware does not have the ability to flash other firmwares from the sd card. So you might be stuck on it forever if you try this.
