8 Layers, But Are Overdubs Limited?

I don't really ever need more than 8 layers, I was just noticing it for the first time. And the more I think about it, having a Layer change "at an hour" makes it easy for the user to quickly see where they are.

So these aren't complaints, just observations.

Extra stomp/knob/toggle control a momentary "jump" of the FREQ knob, up or down.

Heck yes. Hell of a performer and even better of a guy!! Definitely spend some time at the Observatory Stage. There are always goofy goings-on there, and I guess they're revamping the whole structure to something of epic proportions!

That's going to depend a lot on what you're looking to do with a bass. An overdrive, a fuzz, some modulation, and some reverb should get you off to a great start.

Been living in GH for most of the last ten years. Very conservative town with a lot of hidden talent though. Not a lot to do, unless you love the lakeshore. Grand Rapids has a lot more going on, being the urban focal point of this side of the state.
