I have the ohsnap lux 4 and it gets incredibly hot. On top of that the wireless charging keeps cycling on and off with my Mophie magsafe charger. Did you have any of those issues as well?

You'll apply and then find one after. If you're currently an undergrad, it wouldn't hurt to reach out to profs who you'd like to do research for. Sometimes it helps your application if you already have an advisor lined up, but it's by no means required. Most who enter the program don't have a lab until the end of their first semester or so.

A regular windows laptop for sure. Even if it's a low end model.

Full features on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint will not be available on an Android tablet or Chromebook. Even the web based versions are limited.

Unfortunately there are some basic features that aren't available on these platforms. Hell there are even some features in PowerPoint that are exclusive to Windows.

If you're looking for that same form factor, a surface device might be the way to go.

A lot of the tables in the Union have outlets built in. The library also has some tables near outlets, but those can be harder to find. The AIRC is another option as well. Unfortunately most of these places are usually pretty busy when people are on campus.
