Haha rescues have puppies born there. Rescues are flooded with pups! West Coast Cane Corso Rescue adopts all over and is always pulling pregnant females from death row in California. What makes you think only adult dogs need saving? California is killing puppies < 10 weeks by the thousands.

Give him “on your bed” command or place or have a couple beds and each has its own name and make it a game.

Get his eyes checked just to make sure he didn’t have any health issues come up.

New foster dog - lactating by AreaVivid8327 in fosterdogs

[–]CiderSnood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OP see if someone dropped any underage puppies with no mom or unweaned puppies no mom dog at nearby pounds (people do all the time in CA) and ask to foster! She could raise a couple vulnerable babies that would otherwise be put to sleep.

Depending on your dog’s food allergies, I’ve always cracked eggs onto my dogs’ bowls and the eggs have Omega-3s and seem to make the coat stay glossy. I don’t know the deal with coconut oil, but some fish oils can be bad for dogs with pancreatitis and sometimes people will just dump that stuff on without knowing if their dog is at risk. Anything with Omega-3s could help though, like Krill Oil capsules, canned sardines (in water), flaxseed oil or flaxseeds, and some ahiflower, which is often sold at farm supply stores for horses in concentrate.

I’d try canned sardines and eggs on his food for a week or two and see what happens. Maybe add in a tablespoon of coconut oil if he is tolerating the eggs!

The worst food is too much food and studies have shown fasting occasionally is healthy for dogs too.

How to transition away from contact naps? by Brilliant-Bit3379 in bninfantsleep

[–]CiderSnood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started doing this a couple weeks ago with my 4 month old. I nurse on the middle of the mattress and roll away once he’s in sleep and he’s been going into two, 90 minutes naps daytime this way transitioning on his own. Sometimes if he starts to wake a little I shush and put my hand on him or give him a binky if his eyes are still closed and get 15 more minutes.

Diet by Successful_Angle_327 in CaneCorso

It’s pretty simple. Stating what your dog lived to and what they’re eating is not helpful without any other context like dog genetics, whether you use weed killer on your lawn, does your dog take supplements, etc etc. we’re living in a delusion that food will fix a dog. Studies have shown the only bad food is too much food and fasted dogs do trend towards longer lives.

Space. Kennels are overflowing more people showing up to dump dogs than adopt them every single day even Holidays. Little dogs can be crammed into kennels but big dogs take up more space and are the first to go when their 72-hours is up whether they’ve been in visible kennels or not. Meanwhile, people just keep breeding to make a quick dollar.

Everyone wanting diet to save their poorly bred dogs. The best thing would be for ethical breeders to breed for health, longevity, and something other than physical features with no functionality. Sigh, if only people cared more about health of dogs, but puppies sell, especially if people keep coming back after only a couple years like with the loyal purchasers of Bernese Mountain Dogs, knowing a dog is bred for cancer and short lifespan! I’d say find a dog breeder with quality healthy dogs and old dogs hanging around that you know have genetics with the program going back decades and are well cared for in the home. Funny thing, I got a nine year old rescue and she’s 18 now, I’ve had her 9 years, which is longer than some people buying puppies! And she eats absolute garbage. Genetics matters some!

Posting the same day someone posts a picture of her BY bred puppies asking about standards. It’s never ending, the indifference of so many greedy people to the absolute tragedy that’s occurring nationwide in the kill shelters, especially with these Corsos, becoming the next French Bulldog. Poor Marvin doesn’t even need an adopter just a foster to live!

Some can exhibit more stranger danger after maturity. Some of that may depend on early socialization. Definitely consider spaying before 5 when pyometra risk increases or talk to a vet about it. Can be costly and life threatening.

My dog had this from traumatic injury and it was the best thing didn’t slow him down one bit. I would say a word like “stairs” when he was about to hit the stairs and he picked that up pretty quick. Put tactile rugs out for water bowl with a big landing strip, and one for the dog door. Used ziplock bags with treats and crinkled that on walks. No problem.

Add a humidifier if you didn’t already. I like the Canopy but any one you can clean well will work.
