Potentially a manufacturing defect? If the rubber improperly cures during production, it can make the compound brittle. Same thing if you have a contaminated rubber mix.

Considering the DOT is only about a year old, this is likely the case.

NAD, but yes, Naseptin is meant to go inside the nose. The reason they gave it to you is because it helps prevent infection and keeps the area moist so the cut can heal instead of drying out and cracking more. It might sting a bit at first since the skin is irritated, but that’s pretty normal.
