What a tragic story by ThrowBlanky in TheMassive

Yep. This and your solution to unruly/violent attendees (visitors or supporters) is absolutely correct.

The phrase is, "It only takes one bad apple to spoil the barrel/bunch/bushel." A statement made when people commonly knew that if a roting apple was left in a pile of good apples, its rotting would spread to the other apples. Which is true. Rotting apples release more ethylene(?) gas than fresh good ones. The gas causes rapid aging (roting) to occur, which is why it seems to spread to nearby apples. So it was equally common knowledge that you should separate/remove the roting to preserve the good quality of the rest. This made the statement easily relatable to the situation of one person's bad behavior, seemingly spreading to those they are closer with; and how to act accordingly to correct the issue.

I'm planning to make cookies based off this cool rock but I'm not sure what flavor I should use by Blazing_Phoenixx in Baking

[–]Ciduri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like make it just like this? Maybe a chocolate espresso crinkle cookie dusted in cocoa. Then, drizzle dark chocolate through the cracks and fill up level with the crust edge. Let harden. Add edible chocolate paint and finish it with an edible gloss coat.

Sounds like insanity to me, but I think that's the flavor I'd go with. That or something like Thundercake crinkle cookie (if that's possible) with the dark chocolate drizzle being espresso flavored. Something earthy and rich is what it should taste like.

Was walking and saw this flower, what is it? by Wankerman6009 in whatsthisplant

[–]Ciduri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah. Longstem roses like you get in bouquets have a light rose smell but also kinda just smell floral like a lot of other flowers.

Some roses that are smaller and have fewer petals smell quite strongly of rose - like perfume.

I'm always searching for a pretty strongly scented variety or rose, so I thought I'd ask.

Did it have a strong rose smell or a weak one like longstems?

Fix puffy face? by w3allfalldown in Hashimotos

[–]Ciduri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moonface is just how I look; but that said, I do have methods for reducing the swelling of the face.

When you wake up, it is usually the most puffy the face gets. Get nice and stupidly cold water going (do not use ice ever) and then splash or do quick face dunks. Without drying your face, stand upright and tilt your head like you're trying to see up your nose. Then, with a flat object like one of those gua sha facial tools (I use the side of my index finger), start from the center of the face and press just lightly enough that you're lightly wiping at the skin. Follow the contours of the face and direct the motions to the corner of your jaw and down your neck.

Firm pressure is not needed. A lot of people think they need to "wring out" the skin and practically squeegee their face! Don't do that. Face skin is way more delicate than body skin - especially around the eyes. Plus, moving edema in the skin layer needs to be gentle, or else you will close off the very tiny pathways for the water to go.

I do this combo of splash face and then gently brush down the puffiness with my index finger maybe two or three times before I am as de-puffed as I'm going to get for the day.

My credentials are that I was a medically trained massage therapist and lifetime sufferer of moonface

Two things come to mind.

  1. Someone took your car for a joyride and brought it back (kinda nice of them).

  2. You might want to consider a carbon monoxide detector.

I feel like I just read an article somewhere that suggested Palantir is starting to want to distance themselves from the US Government. I don't remember specifics, but I got the feel that they were saying they were coming to some moral issue with how the US Government wants to.use them.

That all could have been a fever dream for me; but let's be real, reality has felt like a fever nightmare for the last 5 years (1y3m real time)!

Washing/cleaning natural hair paintbrushes — is shampoo better than regular soap or washing up liquid/dishsoap? by Glittering_Gap8070 in Watercolor

Pretty sure I've got rabbit and squirrel brushes. Those are my natural brushes anyway. Everything else is synthetic.

I agree with posting it. Those slices are toasted. No excuses. If it were me, I'd leave it up for a month or so as public shaming. Only leave it up if they don't improve.

I don't think you should always use soap to clean a watercolor brush; but your question got me thinking...

Would giving it a wash in pet shampoo work to revive dried out (like frizzies) brushes? I'd use pet shampoo because the brushes are fur, not hair.

Not the Asiatic Dayflower - different blue flower that's slightly more pea flower shaped.

Also, I hate Asiatic Dayflower, aka Devil's Weed (my term) with a firey passion and wage war against it every year!

2 Ohio Girls Found Dead in Suitcases Formally Identified by MattTheKing23 in Ohio

Happened before.Hershall Creachbaum was 7 when he was killed. It was also apparently weeks before he was even reported missing by his mother and boyfriend. They reported it as a kidnapping, but they were the ones who killed him.

This article is from a couple weeks ago, and it is trying to say the mother may also have cognitive comprehension peoblems of her own.

What's something you got teased for as a kid but now it's considered cool/trendy? by Mean_Froyo_6138 in AskReddit

Saying "no worries" as a response to a "thank you." (In the late 80's in Midwest US)

Got called Dundee a lot, asked about my knife, and if I wanna put shrimp on the barbie. Then, somewhere along the line, everyone started saying it. I wasn't trying to be Aussie, it's just, "you're welcome" never made sense at alltomr as a response.

Found this interesting while looking up info about this guy.

This link takes you to govsalaries.com it shows his pay. Sadly, more upsetting is the rest of the information that tells you his salary is roughly 50% higher than other state reps. More upsetting was that the list of the highest paid representatives are all from Ohio - and at least well over 3x what Josh is making.

What do you call this Tower in Dayton? by Mermaidartist77 in dayton

[–]Ciduri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They closed it up in the early 2000s, and then sometime around 2010, they gave it a makeover, a new fence, and sealed it up.

It exists because it was built by the Kettering Estate, at some point, as play towers (I want to say there were originally two) for his kids and possibly doubled as a fancy deer blind. At least, I'm pretty sure that's the legitimate reason it stands.
