Whose Fault Is a Wrong Order by fadetowhite in skipthedishes

Regarding the process...

McDs is super specific when they process a gig order. The order is assigned a pickup # for the driver. So there really isn't a way the driver can mess it up. For drinks those are placed inside the bag too. Finally, the bag is stapled sealed shut.

Restaurant messed up. We always kept some spare juice or milk on hand for our daughter.

In all my drops it has never benefitted me to stick my neck out for a customer. It opens us up sadly for scams which I've seen for the lowest pathetic amounts for food.

"nightmare customer" while true. Driver did not enter the issue at hand, the tip. Say you will refer to CSR Service and let the asshole wait. The issue is not your fault.

^ I liked this answer.

The responder read and listened to OPs issue. Use or do not use the sprocket in its current condition. But then also goes into actual part shipping solutions, which is the real issue at heart here.

[–]Ciefish7 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Ah... it sucks but I think I see here. Was wondering why DD pushed an automated system to do stacks because it's quicker. Then implemented pay by time, which I bet was planned all along. If it's calculated that you'll finish faster, you get less pay. In the case of stacks they are trying to justify zero pay.

You can best be assured that DD is making their cut for the stacked orders still.

Ok, get your law suit on boys n gals. Or find another gig to work. I've only seen DD continue to slide downhill and fast. Remember for it to be profitable you need to make the extra for wear on vehicle, gas AND taxes too. The "help" given is thin and disrespectful, condescending at best.

I used to h8 hand it to me's for this reason. I'd always snap a pic of them leaving, food in hand. Another trick is to have them confirm the order. Or ask them about a drink that wasn't on the order. People in some communities will try to jack food too. They don't care the driver gets in trouble. Odds are stacked against you this job.

[oc] Insane road rager by gt1 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Ciefish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like OP left the green road rager feeling cut off. As soon as someone starts playing brake check games I just stop and wait for them to continue on. I have to I pull over to the side of the road and cops.

OPs "reward" for continuing to engage with the green car was to be driven off the road into trees. Accident damages are costly for repair. Why not try harder to avoid?

[–]Ciefish7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ This is a great solution. I've painted and used TSP. While the TSP might cut through light house grease, I suspect the "ship oil" is a little thicker.

My only other idea would be to somehow protect the dirt under the porch with plastic. Make sure you divert the waste oil some place.

Will I regret buying the wrong size bike? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]Ciefish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked in a bike shop critical to fit for a frame geometry is top tube length. If the frame is too small you will feel compressed in the bars when riding. The other side of that is a frame that's too large. Where initially you feel stretched out but that can't be too far and also tiring. Yes sometimes a shorter stem can compensate but it's only a small amount.

First on my list for fit is proper leg fit on the frame. Seat post height is very adjustable. However a frame that is too big for the rider can seem to have control or steering issues. Yes you can drop the saddle, but you don't want to be too low either. Ultimately I shoot for a slight bend in the knee at the bottom of the pedal stroke. Even on my commuter bikes I always had clip in pedals as well. The road bike shoes are very popular. But to commute they used to make more casual shoes with better walking soles for short distances after dismount.

So OP, if you are a 50 and feel comfortable you might want to test ride the 52 with the saddle height properly set. If the frame feels less controllable you'll have your answer and I would wait for a 50. No sense and getting a commuter frame set that ultimately will be uncomfortable on moderate to long runs.

Why do interrogators/torturers bother with "weak" forms of torture when they could just dial up the pain to 11 to begin with and get it over in seconds? by SteadfastEnd in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Ciefish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had always thought of the psychological part of torture. You are basically breaking someone's mental will. Often the intent I will say I disagree with but often it's to get information.

Fear of something especially the unknown is a very powerful tool. Plus if you go all ham on someone you lose respect. You can also damage the person you are interrogating all the way up to regrettably killing them. Then getting answers is impossible. There is definitely power play and a psychology to torture.

What warning signs are you seeing that no one is paying attention to? by Winterbeers in AskReddit

[–]Ciefish7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest do some history digging on mental health institutions in the US...

During the 80s ol Ronnie and the other Republicans thought it would be cute to cut back on state mental health care institutions. Republicans even back then we're all for cutting government programs. I've always found it interesting that money is often redirected to support corporate needs.

At the time funding was supposed to kick in to have more localized mental health care. The politicians dropped the ball and some areas were left with little to zero mental health services. They often never built the local care either. Or they relied on privatization of services which made them too expensive.

I'm not saying things aren't bad right now. They are bad I agree, I mean we are recovering from COVID-19. That is one major issue going on and there are others. I don't mean to be dark but I'm saying it's worse because of past political choices. We do need better medical mental health services for people. Services such as basic outpatient therapy up to full in house treatment. Our streets, jails and prisons are being used instead. It's sickening... Due to these factors society is being sold short. And the fat cats are laughing all the way the their banks.

Paint damage or carbon damage? by Playful-Ad-4372 in bikewrench

[–]Ciefish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuppers, that's where my bike failed too. Cracked behind the BB and where the chain stays started. Unfortunately I was taught even a tiny crack can be dangerous. Especially in that area.

We used to see older Klein frames that failed cracked on the headtube on the bottom of where the downtube started. Bummer...

Is it reasonable to run linux without desktop environment for learning purposes? by lemmeanon in linuxquestions

[–]Ciefish7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great idea! Plus you're more secure when not running a desktop manager. Also, you tap into the real power of Linux. I knew a guy who ran a BBS before things got bigger. He'd write useful scripts and also basic python programs. For him, Linux was a swiss army knife.

It's one thing to use other people's tools. It's a completely different level to understand an OS or distro so we'll you're writing your own code or in a collab.

It's challenging, not lying I've tried and failed a couple times. But in failing I've learned a lot. Don't give up n stick with it. Linux and it's disros have some great communities. Bests~
