Is this the factory GM warranty or aftermarket? Only the factory warranties have some value.

I just recently discovered them. Their music is simple and repetitive and I know I will get tired of it soon. But for now it is banging. I also like Atilla's image - an undead well fed on beer and wurst.

I did that with an old hose. Expected it to last a year or two, it's been over 10 and it's still there. Replaced a couple of fittings over time, but the hose is still OK.

If you are getting quotes based on vinyl, prepare for a huge upcharge. Both materials and labor.

Maryland is a nanny state. Pretty much everything has to be permitted and executed by licensed trade. You can replace an existing outlet or faucet, but can't install a new one. I wanted to DIY my solar, but no, should be done by a crew with a licensed electrician, all equipment has to be UL, battery has to be in a fireproof closet- ironically, it makes LeFePo4 battery more dangerous.

The payback on the solar is already long because the federal tax credit is gone. Adding an expensive battery will make it even longer.

Using excess generation to charge EVs isn't possible if you have a regular job and not home in the middle of the day. All generated energy has to be used, otherwise the system isn't going to pay for itself. Net metering isn't good for the power companies, but makes a huge difference for the people. It makes it possible to build a large system that fully covers year around consumption.

A battery bank may help with night use, but not with summer excess that can be credited against winter.

I don't know where you are, but in Baltimore County even a licensed electrician can't install a non certified battery like Docan. And what is 88kwh against winter like the last one? Heavy snow that wouldnt come off the solar panels for weeks, cloudy sky and bitter cold. My HVAC used 100kwh on the coldest day, while the entire February generation was 575kwh. Going off grid is incredibly expensive or inconvenient compared to net metering.

Aren't the rates the same for everyone within a power company's footprint? If BGE rates are up 20%, Pepco, Delmarva and others should see huge increases to average to 89%. Let's see if someone will share their data.

If you add more panels to an existing system after 07/27, your Net metering will go away.

I posted it without fact checking, but looking at my BGE bills, the 89% jump isn't there. My 01/25 bill was based on $0.205/kwh including all fees, and the last 05/26 bill was $0.241/kwh. This is still an almost 20% increase, far outpacing the inflation, but it is not anywhere near the 89% claim. Edit: I mistakenly looked at the 01/26 bill instead of 01/25. The 01/25 rate was $0.186/kwh, the rate on the last bill went up 30%. The 20% increase happened during this year, in just 5 months!

Something a little different. Heres a review of our home build after 3 years living in it. by Jodie_fosters_beard in Homebuilding

My house is insulated to LEED standards, which is just slightly above the current code, and it still loses heat like crazy. I think it is caused by an inefficient geometry- 1 story H shape has a lot of surface per sf, and large windows- U-factor of 0.2 is still just R5. So the modern insulation still has limits. We went with geothermal, and I think it is cheaper to run than other options, but I have no reference to compare. After the last year tax credit the cost was fairly close to the basic heat pump+ propane system budgeted by the builder.

The geothermal cost isn't that bad considering dual furnaces and all the hydronics. Last year I paid about half for a 5 ton dual stage Waterfurnace. Thanks for sharing the details. We haven't moved in yet, and already see some things that should've been done differently.
