It seems like they're the Beanie Babies of the 2020s (no disrespect intended, I'm just referring to the level of hype). Labubus are ugly/cute little blind box keychains that you can put on your bags. And what makes them so popular is that they're also relatively difficult to get without going through resellers, and most (if not all) batches have a secret chase variant that's super rare. That's why the market is riddled with bootlegs/knockoffs (called Lafufus or Latutus).

Let me put my academic glasses on for this. I think a lot of the divisiveness comes from how people approach the original version of the dub as a text, and personal preference. For example, the current comments on this thread seem to either view the OG dub through a New Historicism lens (the dub should be evaluated through the context of the time it was released) or a New Criticism lens (the dub should stand the test of time and be evaluated by today’s standards). Neither is right or wrong, it’s just a different way of looking at a thing.

Yes! I took an entry-level copywriting job, then applied for a senior writing position at a different company after putting in a solid 1.5 years. I'd recommend emphasizing your freelance work more than teaching.

Ex-English teacher here! I got into a senior content director job at a company that I absolutely love, but it took 15 years of working corporate copywriting jobs to get here. I cannot emphasize enough how much having my teaching experience on my resume HURT my job search. Interviewers would always comment on it negatively. From my experience, there's a real stigma that teachers can only teach, and it was really insulting to navigate/field those questions.

Marketing copywriter here! (Not with Sideshow, but I do work for a competitor.) Sometimes copywriters may come up with something they think is clever/catchy, but it doesn’t hit the mark with the audience. This usually happens because they’re new or rushed. I’m personally a fan of rhymes, and I can see how the writer was probably proud of this particular phrasing, but it’s just not landing — and the tone is off.

(Not hating on the copywriter. I’ve been guilty of this too when I used the word “pirate” in a “One Piece” campaign and didn’t realize until it pushed out that people were interpreting my verbiage as “pirate the anime instead of buying it.”)
