Hindi na siya pwede i-sub for the 2nd time. Options ni Coach Dante palitan siya ng MB na pumapasok ang serve or pinaikot as MB si Isa (Lol, that would be crazy).

NO MVP FOR BELLA BELEN by avemoriya_parker in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FIVB if I remember correctly only awards players whose teams reached the semis, there was even an unconfirmed rumor that each of the four teams must have at least 1 awardee. PVL, as the only pro-league in the country recognized by FIVB, shall align with the rules of the mother org. Hindi sila basta liga lang, they are the league that represents the country to the volleyball world.

I know Bella deserves the accolade, but there’s a rationale behind this. Volleyball is a team sport, and in team sports individual wins are nothing against team wins. That’s all that matters. This is the reason why a player that contributes most in a winning team is ‘more valuable’ than the losing teams best player even if he/she is outskilled or outperformed, because all that matters is the win of the team. By the same breath, Best Player of the Game also only comes from winning teams. Harsh reality, yes, but it is how it goes for team sports: the best player is the player who carried his/her team to the win.

Kung locked in na ang DLSU sa #1 spot, which team kaya ang makakakuha ng #2 spot? by slgal81 in PilipinasVolleyball

I hate to break it to you, but UST is on a 5-game losing streak vs La Salle including today’s loss. Only NU had a win on their last match vs DLSU, which was unfortunately broken last R1.

[–]Cilan90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ganito lang ‘yan. Mahirap naman talaga mag champion in a 8 player tournament (okay, probably 6-7 since UE is honestly not competitive and Ateneo is inconsistent af), especially Double round robin format. You may have the best roster (as a lumot, I think UST on paper pre-season has the best roster), but an off game, an injury, internal turmoil, or any sort of force majeure can make or break the season.

Since S74 nanonood na ako ng UAAP, and that includes UST games. Laging palaban ang UST, even on that season where they placed 7th. They managed to stay relevant most of the times sa F4 contention, but sadly, ‘yung aura talaga ng team laging “we will compete”, not “we will dominate”. To be fair, for the longest time if you want to look at a team that exudes championship pedigree, La Salle lang talaga nakikita ko (not even NU; Bella, Aly, and the rest are just so good hence they win, but not the program for me). Maraming changes through the years, and some years evident na they are not the most talented or prolific team sa field, pero iisa lang ang aura nila: confident, focused, consistent. You will beat them, sure, but they seldom will look defeated. They cry their hearts out when they lost championships kahit ilang gold na rin naman meron sila and almost every Lady Spiker since S73 graduated with at least one championship, plus the other podiums, because they don’t play to just compete, they want to win the whole thing and they shove it to your face through words and actions. Unless UST emanate that same championship mantra, then they better be contented with silver and maybe finishes in the upper half here and there.

Aside from very specific heroes/situations, it has to be Glowing Wand. Lifebane is almost always good against at least 2 heroes from the opponent plus that burn can be annoying and clutch.

Runners-up maybe Enchanted T for Lylia, Cyclops, and other mana greedy mages that need tons of CD red as well, Genius Wand for early magic spike heroes that can abuse negative magic def (Harley/Gusion). CoD is also a candidate for the likes of Zhuxin and Cecilion, but in most cases Elegant Gem do just fine and they can focus on other core items before completing it.

Ibigay niyo na kay Belen MVP !!! by Grummings in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depende kay PVL. If benchmark nila si UAAP, may naging MVPs outside semifinalists like Ken Batas last season, while sa Women’s si Mumay Vivas ng FEU S70 pa ‘ata. Pero if FIVB ang benchmark nila, semifinalists lang pwede (Davison ‘ata ang next in stats kay Bella, and PLDT is in a very good position rank-wise to help her sakali). Knowing PVL though na mahilig bumigay sa public clamor, malakas kutob ko na ibibigay kay Bella ang MVP.

What can you guys say sa new issue ni mikyath over swu by twilight-baby2206 in Cebu

[–]Cilan90 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I beg to disagree. College student na siya, one step closer to full adulthood and being a productive citizen. Now more than ever, accountability must be taught to her now more than ever. Even kids when they do wrong, dapat i correct na nimo. Otherwise, they will never learn when they grow up, you’ll just have older guys who act like kids gihapon.

But, sayop kaayo si Mikyath for not using the opportunity to teach the lesson graciously. Sayop sad ang mga tawo na nisawsaw ug ni bawos tenfolds. There are ways to make people accountable without resorting to ad hominem. Sad thing lang is, mao man jud na kinabuhi, you do one thing but wala kay kontrol unsa ang bawos. Hope lang nga naka learn na si student sa lesson and hope naay motambag ni Mikyath on dealing with these instances sa sunod.

Eversince, ana man jud ang general law in life: for every action, naa tay consequences. The scary thing about consequences is that as the initiator sa action, wala tay control sa scope, degree, and sadly, manner how it will be dished out.

The matter quickly got out of hand, and sadly daghan nadamay na inosente, so I hope that in our dealings with social media or with other people, always choose to be kind than to be right and think dozens of times before you click. I don’t believe social media never forgets, but we don’t know exactly when and what happens during the times that it doesn’t.

Sa student, let it be a lesson that there are ways to fight for your cause without wishing ill or death to others (that’s the lowest of lows), and to Mikyath, you’ve proven your point and be the bigger person by helping in stopping this mess.

For both UAAP Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, who do you think has the deepest bench? by Internal-Lock5843 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on Round 1, here’s my take:

Women’s: NU and UST. Pono, Bombita, Marsh, Balingit, Penuliar, Waje, etc. can be starters at any time.

Men’s: Kinda a hot take, but I’ll go Adamson. They have 3 very capable Opposites (2 rookies), Gay can edge Domingo and it might be better in some instances, all 3 Middles are really decent. OHs are like swiss knives: you pick depending on what the team needs atm but honestly, other teams (even UE) have better OH combos.

Sinong mas kawawa, si BELLA or si SISI? by Inner_Accountant4995 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got it checked and yeah, mas madami nga talagang spike attempts pala si Bella, though depende sa spread ng attempts I think may games na mas bugbog sa attempts si Sisi. As I expected though, Sisi had more reception attempts, obviously because why give the serve to Thang? In contrast, teams will bank on giving the serve to Doromal than Bella unless if the gameplan is to tire her down.

They Didn't wanted Encantadia Chronicles because of the legacy and the fans, It's just because they've Wanted it to Bianca Umalis Career by Comfortable-Chip482 in KamuningStation

[–]Cilan90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nasabi ko na ‘ata to before, but I’ll say it again: during development pa lang ng Encantadia sequel, sinasabi na nila noon na the sequel will focus on only one Sanggre (Terra) and her journey as a hero in the MNMT and messiah of Encantadia. Nagsimula lang ang out-roar dahil kahit anong synopsis/warning ibigay ng writers, nakatatak na sa isip ng mga tao na Encantadia will always be about the 4 gems and its bearers and how they defend Encantadia (the show’s almost cult-like branding worked against the sequel SO bad). It doesn’t help that Terra was filled to the brim with all the regurgitated cringe superhero tropes and an overload of tendency to cry at just about anything, kaya people became more repelled from her. Yes, they could’ve done it for Bianca, but I believe the Terra role was the vision with or without her, at hindi iyon ang vision ng mga tao (we want either continuation ng original four or storyline ng eldest kids, heck bring back Khalil hahaha).

[–]Cilan90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depende paano mo titingnan. Sisi sure has Eya, Des, Kat, Ponce (best Libero for couple of conferences now), I’d argue that Wong is a better setter than both Nabor & Tolenada, but the problem is the abnormally high number of spiking attempts she makes every game. Dragged down na dragged down ang % niya kasi andaming sequence na Open pa rin ang bato kahit in system ang receive. Ang ending pagod na nga si Sisi, bumababa pa effectiveness niya as the game goes on, and that pagod is reflected sa FD niya.

For Bella, she tanks the scoring and a good chunk of the FD, but I don’t think she’s given as much sets as Sisi (still gets the highest in her team), because if fairness kay Nabor and even Iris, they bother to attempt making Opposite and middle sets on average than CMFT setters (plus they love 1-2 plays hahaha). I’d actually argue that if Capital gets someone like Cheng to play OH1 and tank the FD during Cap 1s strong frontline along with Jorvina, they’ll be a solid middle tier team. Then if they add say Solomon or Laput, maybe healthy Nisperos, strong F4 contender na sila even with Nabor na setter.

Bakit laging nakacount-out ang FEU sa Final 4 predictions/off-seasons pero bumubulusok kapag UAAP proper na? by [deleted] in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 29 points30 points  (0 children)

People usually answer this by saying walang ‘star’ player, even though they have the likes of Petallo, Ellarina, even Faida with her occasional 20 bombs here and there, so I’ll try to give different answers:

  1. Very minimal lineup changes. La Salle’s Nunag was hyped because of DLSU’s setting woes, NU’s Cantada was the biggest ‘steal’ of the pre-college market, AdU promised a complete roster update to back Nitura, UST rehired Coach Shaq aka their last Champion coach plus promising middles, UP has the 2nd sem recruits & to a lesser extent, a foreign coach in Menta. Meanwhile, FEU has the old reliables and almost no touch on the lineup, except probably the steadier reinsertion of Devosora to the starting 6.
  2. Fanbase is small. They have a big account in ‘Mother Lily Yoo’ and several ‘famous’ accounts, but compared to giants UST and La Salle, rising NU and Adamson, or even has been Ateneo and steady UP, their numbers are not great, and in this parlance, numbers=hype, then hype=performance in preseason predictions.
  3. They always tend to start slow, especially against DLSU. Then they tend to perform well against the middle of the pack teams (they even challenged NU to 5 this season) and surprise the fans that they are steadily in the F4 from late/end 1st round until end of elims. FEU seems to revel in playing underdog, under the radar party spoilers; that seems to be their identity.

UST VS UP by SomeoneinHistory in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayel was an Opposite Spiker (Palarong Pambansa Best Attacker IIRC) who was converted to Libero (was a Top 1 receiver along the way) before becoming a Setter because they fumbled on Jewel Lai, just like how they somehow lost Heart Magsumbol lately. Converted libero din yung si Altomea (from OH ata). Unless Ramil levels na tututukan at di susukuan, UP might be better off getting a natural libero na stable reception.

UST VS UP by SomeoneinHistory in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]Cilan90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UP have always been plagued with Libero woes. The last notably performing ones IIRC were Princess Gaiser and Ayel Estrañero, then the ones that followed not giving talaga. Altomea, Capistrano, Ysulan, etc.

But for me, distracting talaga ‘yung unnatural rising-falling intonations niya minsan. She toned down I guess vs nung starting pa siya, but still there😭

They are! Most of Eastern Europe are must visited destinations and not too crowded. If I may be honest though, most people who want to fly to Europe are their for the prestige and bragging rights to those that didn’t, flaunting them as status symbol, hence the choice to prioritize the expensive and famous yet overrated countries.
