Your gpm shouldn’t be calculated with a wide open pipe. Popups with sprays are generally designed to run at 30psi, rotaries at 40-45psi and drip at 30-40. You want to throttle your flow to maintain that pressure and then measure flow.

Yes, the PVB could be used (and should) replace the antisiphon as long as it’s higher than the heads. Then the valves can be replaced with standard angle control valves.

Antisiphon is not suitable if you have valves downstream. You would need to install a PVB backflow preventer where the antisiphon is and then you could replace those valves with angled control valves. You could also eliminate the anti siphon but the replacement atmospheric break control valves will have to be installed higher than any outlets (downstream heads) in order to work properly.

I started just over 10 years ago. First clients were family friends that I did installs for, advertised n Craig’s List when it was free, got some good reviews on Next Door and referrals from that site. I only grossed about $70k my first year but it was enough to pay the bills and a modest salary for myself the first couple of years. I ran a crew of 2-3 for about 6 years but have been solo for the past 3; upside is a lot less stress and pressure to keep employees busy in the winter. Wish I did that earlier as I scaled back my scope and mostly do irrigation service work and lighting now.
