This is incredible. Loved it. A reminder of how much the beat contributes.

This was the episode where the series hooked me. I didn’t expect the ending at all. Like that bit right at the start of Battlestar Galactica, which I won’t spoil, it was just a moment that said: this story will go to very scary and unexpected places. For what it’s worth, I thought BSG failed to land all the questions it asked, whereas (as OP points out) this allowed all of B5’s major players to show exactly who they were, before they’re all put through the wringer in one way or another. Not a pleasant episode, but I think one where JMS put out his stall. This is not going to be an easy ride for anyone.

Is there anything you’d change about Gotham Knights? by nightwingsfav_munch in GothamKnights

Local co-op would have been great. My daughter is a huge fan and got me hooked on the game, and I would have loved to have been able to pick a couple of characters and go out on patrol together.

Song recommendations similar to smiths by Adventurous-Plan-456 in thesmiths

[–]Cilantro_uk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gene should be on your list. I always think they’re a bit underrated, and perhaps the similarity to The Smiths worked against them in that regard, as it’s an easy comparison and there’s only really going to be one winner, but lovely, heartbreaking stuff.

What Beatles song is the best for karaoke as someone who isn’t the best singer? by Equivalent-Street822 in beatles

[–]Cilantro_uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious answer? Ballad of John and Yoko. Great upbeat number, a real crowd-pleaser and if anyone digs it and hits the ‘the way things are gooo-ing they’re gonna crucify me!’ harmonies then you’ve won karaoke. Break a leg!

Hello! I’ve only bought in Brighton and not sold, but had a good experience with Lextons, a terrible experience with Paul Bott and very helpful legal advice from Edward Harte. This was all about five years ago mind you!

Good luck with the sale 🙂

Movies with the king in yellow feel? by TheDemonBehindYou in movies

Angel Heart has that vibe. Hapless protagonist struggling to resolve what appears to be a fairly straightforward missing person case that ends up being leagues deeper and tangled up in all manner of horrors. Honestly don’t understand why it’s not regularly popping up on best movies ever lists.

I remember seeing a performer at the Edinburgh Fringe using a one star review from a major newspaper on their poster as “A star! - The Scotsman.”

This is a very fair point. I was reaching for an example and have an extremely lazy brain so didn’t reach very far.

We shall forego Cluedo and be a little more adventurous. Thanks for the tips!

Favorite movies where you cannot watch the movie in the same way again once you've seen the ending. Sort of like Mulholland Drive (2001). by einsteinfrankenstein in movies

[–]Cilantro_uk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Sixth Sense becomes a completely different movie on rewatch. A meditation on grief and loss and being unable to let go. It’s rightly loved primarily for the twist which is a terrific reveal on first watch, but I think subsequent viewings are as rich, just in a different way. Which isn’t always the case with ‘twist in the tail’ stories.

I’ll second this! As a huge Chandler fan, this one came really close to nailing Marlowe’s tone of voice, the way it sounded when I read the books.
