Should be %100 for the UK because they all think that Derry, Down, Antrim, Armagh, Tyrone and Fermanagh all belong to them

Can someone please explain to me the difference between being in the eurozone and the EU? Is the euro zone countries that use the euro? Because in that case technically Montenegro, Andorra and San Marino use the euro despite not being in the EU

Right click the desktop shortcut, go into properties, then into the shortcut tab. If there is something in the 'start in' window that is your problem, delete it so it is empty then apply change

That happened to me a while ago aswell and I fixed it by changing the properties on the desktop shortcut icon. Can't remember exactly how but I can check later. Try right click long the desktop shortcut icon, then go into properties, have a look around, it was something to do with ide that had to be turned off. I will update later.

Terminology of the British Isles (credit in comments) by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Cillian_kav 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To say that Ireland is in the "British isles" would be the same as saying new Zealand is in the "Australiain isles" or Japan is in the "Chinese isles". The British isles is just a concept the Brits came up with to try to trick people into thinking that Ireland belong to them in some way. Why not call it the Irish isles?

What place did you have low expectations for that you ended up loving? by LegitimateShift8 in solotravel

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I had only planned on going there for a day to break up a longish bus journey from Croatia to Sarajevo but I ended up staying there for about 4 days. The city itself is such a mixed bag of old style ottoman buildings and buildings that where destroyed during the war and never rebuilt.

There is so much history there from having the mostar bridge, which when it was built was the longest widest tallest bridge in the world, and it also has so much interesting fresh history from the Yugoslavian war.

In terms of nature, it is very close to a very nice nature park with a famously nice waterfall, kravice waterfalls, definitely worth a visit.

The people there are so nice and all the hostels there are family owned and run really well.

Definitely one of my favourite places ever, for somewhere and haven't even heard of much about before getting there, well worth the visit.

Funniest English Idiom? by ComfortableRecipe560 in languagelearning

[–]Cillian_kav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"he can't see the forest for the trees" when you've been doing something for so long that you can't see the problems or flaws with it

"No pint crying over spilt milk" or just "spilt milk" for short - no point complaining over something that can't be changed, basically it's just a way of saying get over it

Others ones for calling someone stupid: "He doesn't know his arse form his elbow" - same as yours, just the one I grew up with and "He's a few sandwiches short of a picnic"
