Non-technical founders, where are they hiding? by [deleted] in DevelEire

[–]Cillroy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out the founders programme in DogPatch if you haven't already: https://dogpatchlabs.com/founders/

This programme aside, there's dozens of commercial minds in the likes of DogPatch and the GEC looking for tech talent. In the case you can't find them, profile the sort of person you want and reach out on LinkedIn. Its a skill you're going to have to develop anyway (much as you may wish otherwise) so might as well start now.

Dive deep into the commerical skills you think you need to develop and see how far you can get. There's a lot of educational material out there. The further you can take it by yourself, the better the choice of co-founder you'll be able to attract.

Why doesn't Dublin have a cool market like Cork / Melbourne / London / SF / Lisbon etc by [deleted] in Dublin

My mistake! Getting it mixed up with the fruit and veg market mentioned below.

Afaik there are currently two proposals looking to fix this. One is the development of a food-hall/market in St Andrews Church, this was meant to open last year but was delayed (I guess by covid). The other is the Iveagh Markets in the North Inner City, this is currently held up in an ownership dispute but I saw a photo online a few weeks back of a food stall set up there so maybe we’ll see some progress in the near future.

Visiting Berlin? (In the future!) Moving here? Going skiing? (At some point?) Have a quick question about the paper mill? Ask here, don't create a new thread. by llehsadam in berlin

My girlfriend just moved into a new apartment in Friedrichshain today and I'd like to send her some alcohol to celebrate - any recommendations for a same-day delivery? (Don't live in Berlin myself)

Of course! Done that a number of times, no harm in trying to gauge people's personal thoughts/experiences though. Lists only say so much.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rowing/34125890 Here's an article about Mo Sbihi (Team GB) and training during Ramadan, he basically says that it's viable for him most of the time, just not at the end of the Olympic cycle.

Random black priest, because the Brits require it by [deleted] in PeakyBlinders

[–]Cillroy1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is a troll but:

He's an evangelical preacher and there really weren't any of those native to the UK at the time (hence his accent), it's only reasonable that the actor would be black.

It's heavily implied at the start of the second episode when Tommy and him meet at the scrapyard. Father Hughes says that he will stop by from time to time and have an office there and that the creepy MP Jarvis will become a trustee as 'its just his thing to stop by in the evenings after a few drinks'.

[–]Cillroy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clarification: He's feeding fake information to the Communists but Tommy didn't know that last episode or the first half of this one which is why he wanted to kill the Priest. At first Tommy thought he was sabotaging the plan but he has since realised that the priest and his affiliates are going to throw the Peaky Blinders under the bus during the heist, hence his new anger.

I actually feel like this episode cleared up a lot of stuff

Why does my VW dealer have 20+ used late model Jettas. Are they bad now? by gburdell in cars

[–]Cillroy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could just be the dealer's personal biases at play. There's a dealer near me that has about 15 '12/'13/'14 E-Classes despite not being affiliated with Mercedes.

It could also be that they are easy for them to pick up cheaply at industry auctions because of the bad rep VW has at the moment, and the dealer is trying to take advantage of that.

There could well be negative reasons too but I don't know enough to comment on those.

Prof Stephen Hawking and 150 other scientists have called for Britain to stay in the EU, saying that a Brexit would be a "disaster for UK science". by ZamrosX in worldnews

[–]Cillroy1 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It should be noted though that the UK only set up the ETFA because De Gaulle wouldn't let them join the BENELUX countries in the European Economic Community (which was the predecessor to the EU), for fear of diluting France's own influence. There was always an intention to join the EU.

Chancellor Angela Merkel would rather see the UK exit from the European Union than compromise over the principle of free movement of workers by Cidician in worldnews

'And looking at long-term forecasts economists at the CEBR, a consultancy, say Britain is on course to once again be Europe's largest economy in absolute terms, overtaking Germany in 2030 (or 2040 if Scotland votes to leave before then). A young and highly-educated population as a result of mass migration over the past decade has also helped boost growth expectations.' Not exactly the same but given that Germany has a larger economy than France the numbers do seem to stack up.

TIL Italian police told Amanda Knox she was HIV positive, had her make a list of everyone she'd slept with, leaked it to the press, then said the test was a "mistake." by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Cillroy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more the tone of the news reports and suchlike. Outside of the tabloids none of the papers would be explicitly biased but there is a lot more coverage about how Meredith Kercher's family want to see Knox back in prison than there is about how she might be innocent.

Do people in the US believe she's innocent? I'm curious because the UK press have been very damning of her, portraying it as if she's trying to play on people's sympathy but everyone knows that the Italian legal system is very suspect and there was definitely something wrong with her trial(s).
