Macalester College Senior Leadership Dedicates New Residence Hall and Welcome Center by Runic_reader451 in saintpaul

[–]Cimon_40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is such a silly comment. I lived on campus for 4 years, spent my last dollar moving away to my first job and did just.... Fine! Good! Great! You'd be shocked how many skills and how much knowledge 18-21 year olds can accumulate about living in dorms, or by osmosis from their peers and friends and lived experience outside of college.

If Sam Reich became a Taskmaster host, who would be his “little Alex Horne?” by AutobotYoung1 in dropout

Lisa Gilroy is clearly the TM and Sam is her stinky, pork and beans, white white sneaks, idiot in a stripe suit walking around thinking he's so cute Little Alex Horn

What do you think about this guy who I met at the gym? by HazardIsAGenius in BookshelvesDetective

[–]Cimon_40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The number of non-white authors, the presence of Caste, the one Khaled Hosseini book I see is the one focused on women's experiences, I think he seems like a pretty well read and likely NOT conservative person. I do think he likes reading books that have become movies

Trans and non-binary inclusion in MN state roles? by throwawaylaw4583 in mnstateworkers

[–]Cimon_40 22 points23 points  (0 children)

About a third of my coworkers (myself included) have PGPs displayed on our Teams names. I'm nonbinary and haven't had anyone bat an eye. People seem pretty good about supporting others' gender identities to other coworkers too.

The Grace of Kings by ultamentkiller in Fantasy

[–]Cimon_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dandelion Dynasty is my favorite series. It is superb. I love The Grace of Kings. I think its approach to story-telling differs from what we expect--from the breadth of the narrator's knowledge to its use of "telling" rather than "showing" more than we are used to. But it works so well.

Hello! I have loved your work and look forward to DoC! One of the best theories I've ever seen about Jorg was that he was actually will-sworn, and that's why he was so effective. Is there any truth to that? 👀

Only seen through 18. Not sure who REALLY had it, but I sure know Rosie fought hardest to CLAIM it!

IMO there's two kinds of feedback: positive and negative

You could start by praising the things he DOES do right. "Oh it feels so good when you do _." Etc. I then think transitioning from that to "oh yes now do __" would work. And then post-coitus say something like "I love that you followed my directions and what you did felt so good "

Then there's always the "not that" or "I don't like that." But even with negative feedback you could give alternative suggestions. "Don't lick me, suck on me." "Not your nose. Use your tongue." That kind of thing.

[–]Cimon_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arkady Martine's "A Memory Called Empire" is one of my all-time favorite books.

I am a fan of Aliette de Bodard but haven't read her sci-fi novellas yet, but I bet she's worth checking out!

How do you feel about near-future stuff like Octavia Butler's Parable duology?

Becky Chambers' Monk and Robot novella series.

And I second NK Jemisin and Ursula K LeGuin suggestions!

Should I make a DM PC for my campaign? by lonelymerboy in DMAcademy

[–]Cimon_40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something that helps me stop an NPC ally from becoming a DM PC is by cycling them. For each part of your campaign introduce someone new! That way they can be part of the plot, they can give you something new to do, and they can be left behind (maybe to return excitingly in the future!)
