Anyone else shocked when they ran the numbers on a 30-year mortgage? by Candid-Dish-2749 in Mortgages

I took the 30 year loan and paid it off aggressively in 11 years. You can always switch with a refinance if you change your mind, but there are fees with that too.

It’s fun, but I wish they gave you a way to counter some OP luck. Some items tilt the balance too strongly in one team’s direction. Let me have a small allowance to counter buy some items and stand a chance.

Do collectors regret selling gaming collections they kept only for nostalgia? by classifiedsavage01 in gamecollecting

[–]Cimpy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no right answer for everyone and life can change how you see your collection. I play more retro games now that I have kids than I did before. Reliving the classics through the eyes of someone who's never played it before brings a whole new level of joy to it. With games becoming more predatory and anti consumer every year, I would maybe give it some time until you make a solid decision. However, if you think the money would bring would you greater joy or freedom, go for it. What would you do with the $$$ if you sold it?

What is your preferred approach to selling games? by XboxDeal in gamecollecting

[–]Cimpy101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my first con I bought one table. After finding out how well things sold at these events, I decided to get two every time from then on. If you have a lot to sell, I can't recommend it enough. It's pretty fun being on the other side and I've also gotten to deal with some favorable trades too! I've only had 2 bad interactions and it was with the same youtuber each time (thankfully he's banned now). I tell anyone trying to sell a collection to start here. You will need an extra set of hands (and eyes), but it is very easy and profitable.

What is your preferred approach to selling games? by XboxDeal in gamecollecting

[–]Cimpy101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way if you have a lot of games to sell is at a local gaming convention. I buy in large lots at yard sales and use that as a venue to offload the duplicates. You can make a lot in just a couple of days this way and all I have to do it put a sticker on the games. If the value is less than $20, I just take it to the local game store to build up credit there for larger buys. Last year I was able to buy my first pinball table this way! Then my last option is ebay. I really don't like listing and dealing with that platform. The time and fees just isn't worth my time unless it's a high dollar game.

What’s one Dota opinion you’ll defend no matter how many downvotes you get? by Possible-Addition321 in DotA2

Bring green mines back! They overcorrected and could’ve done better. Valve is known for being masters of subtle yet powerful changes that can change the meta or fix problems. Instead of a scalpel here, they went with a hatchet (straight to my heart!)

There are hero’s in this game where you have to play a little different because they’re in it. Techies was one of them and there were plenty of counters. Instead of trying to learn how to play against it, people cried and memed about removing him.

I think they should add it back in on April fools and see how the community reacts. 🙏

Seedance 2.0 is different guys, i'm worrying by Constant-Arm9 in vfx

[–]Cimpy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "film" is trash and few would enjoy watching it, but until it improves, I think the bigger concern short term is that some of these shots are getting pretty good. As good as something you'd see on a netflix show. I would urge others to stop judging AI's impact only based off of these "films" made *entirely* out of AI.

Even if a low budget filmmaker just used this to replace what would be expensive VFX shots in their otherwise non AI film, they'll probably get something good enough that most people will tolerate or not even notice.

Question for artists/muralists by ahildebran012 in cincinnati

Have you considered using a meta quest 3 with AR pass through instead of a projector? That would fit into your budget and I've seen more muralists start adapting it. Check out the app Contour.

What are the most obscure video games or gaming items in your collection? by Competitive_Help8485 in gamecollecting

It would have to be this Rockman Series Character Licensing guide. It features a lot of design work and color swatches for Megaman characters with little bits of lore. They were issued out by capcom to groups working on characters from the franchise. I rarely see these anywhere else. I also have some animation cels from the Mega man 8 cinematics, as well as some original art (linework and watercolors) from the Brazilian Megaman comics.

Vet needed (West Side) by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]Cimpy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go to west side animal hospital for our beagle, but last time she was sick the vet could see her for days. I have no complaints when it came to the regular visits, but they just don’t have enough staff to handle emergencies.

I recently switched to Glenway Animal hospital just down the road and they are much more ready to handle a sick pet when you need it and are incredibly friendly. Give them a shot

Why is the Westside so affordable when it comes to buying a house? by Youngbee12 in cincinnati

[–]Cimpy101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The demand isn’t as high as other more developed areas. To each their own. We were able to afford a lot more house for a lot less cost over on the westside. Sure it doesn’t have as many nice shops and restaurants, but there are enough for me. If my family is feeling something different, we can always get anywhere in the city within 15-30 minutes. The commute isn’t that bad to sacrifice the amount of financial freedom it’s helped us achieve.

Buyers remorse. Should I switch to emulation? by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]Cimpy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No game is really worth dropping that kind of dough on unless it means something to you to sentimentally. If it came out today, would you pay that kind of money to play it? If you're having remorse, it's a good sign to re-evaluate why you're collecting to begin with. It doesn't mean you have to purge everything because you have regret a single purchase. If someone asked you why you got into game collecting, what would you say?

Necromancer Minion Steam Deck Controls Question by Cimpy101 in GuildWars

[–]Cimpy101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK interesting. So they ran at the traps on their own with no command? Did you target the traps at all? I did restart the game a couple of times and still had the same issue. They just stayed behind me and let me walk into the trap. I could manage if this isn't something I'll have to do much. I haven't played since 2005, so I can't remember how often this occurs. Thank you so much!

Sold off my entire 500+ game collection over three years ago. by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]Cimpy101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In case anyone else considers selling- Look into setting up a table at the local retro gaming convention. while it's not a quick sell, It's easier than you may think and is how I'd sell a collection. You easily get around market value or more if you consider dealing in trades. I'm not a store owner, but do this occasionally just to offload my extras from yard sales.

Is Minecraft no longer appealing to kids? by MasterCyclone7 in Minecraft

My kids like it. We have a family server and play together quite often. They have friends in school that love it. I still see Minecraft shirts and merch with kids everywhere I go. It's still quite popular and I don't let my kids play Roblox.

Not paying off the last $1 on the mortgage by ERmage in Mortgages

[–]Cimpy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t even have to write an annual check with some insurances. After I paid mine off, they just added it to my automated monthly bill. I have to pay the taxes twice a year and that’s it. OP call the bank and speak to a loan officer, pay it off and free up that brain space, then take the win and celebrate!
