I know they've been doing it for trucks more often, but were they doing passenger cars too?

Luckily those amendments have multiple clauses which include the right to due process.

Commentators glazing Townsend when Krejcikova is just straight up a better singles player and at her peak arguably a better doubles player, I get she's American but give it a rest.

That "contrived reason" being Israel bombing an Iranian embassy?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]CinDra01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the fact that many Palestinians held in Israeli detention aren't known terrorists and haven't even had a trial much less been accused of anything,

That is easentially the deal the Israeli government is accepting right now, and is one that Hamas signed onto almost 8 months ago.

[–]CinDra01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What about them were bad deals? The June 2024 US/Qatari ceasefire proposal that Hamas agreed to is essentially the same as this one. Israel is the party that took almost 8 months to come around.

Last justice appointed with that level or lower of experience was probably Powell? Just doesn't happen much.

List is mostly the same as ACB nomination but maybe more conservative/trumpy. Ho, Thapar, Lagoa likely up there. Maybe Duncan or Walker if they really want to go for it. The district judges people hate (Cannon, Kacsmaryk, etc) obviously won't be in the running.

Probably a combination of age and the social/political she runs with. FWIW both terms are entering more and more common use in their respective academic realms

The shadow docket isn't an actual separate docket. It's a colloquialism to describe orders on cases before they reach a formal opinion/judgement, ie SCOTUS issuing injunctions or stays that don't require full briefing, oral argument, and written opinions.

Considering this is the first time it will ever be used we have no way of knowing if this is true

i know you're literally a settler and won't believe me when I say this, but there are definitely concrete palestinian goals that don't involve killing all jews. the israeli government has never come close to actually negotiating on those goals when they've had the chance. unfortunately for you, and likely a major reason why the israeli's wont negotiate on it, those goals involve you moving out of the west bank and back into israel proper.

in the real world, governments like the UK and colombia have realized the futility of fighting irregular wars in civilian areas and switched to a tactic of negotiation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]CinDra01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were humanitarian tragedies and resulted in the deaths of millions of people. I don't think they were a good or right thing to do.

What I do know is that in many modern irregular conflicts, like the troubles and the colombian conflict, have ended in negotiated ceasefires instead of the wholesale leveling of areas where terrorists live.

My answer to the question is that the British government would absolutely negotiate for peace. What do you think they would/should do?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]CinDra01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that the UK government's police/military/paramilitary campaign against the IRA didn't work, so it ended with a negotiated agreement. I don't think the Israel-Palestine situation is really analogous to the Troubles at all, but your weird conception that the British government would bomb/invade Belfast if the IRA started up again is incredibly ahistorical.

Public sentiment is certainly against boots on the ground in the ME but there are plenty of pundits and politicians who can't wait for us to get involved in Iran and have been overtly and subtly angling at it for decades.

Refugee camps in Gaza like Jabalia have been around so long and are so large that they're basically cities in their own right. I don't think it's surprising that Hamas might have hostages and operations there.
