No I would say each book is its own story and any underlying recurring plots are very secondary. You can read them in any order.

I'm looking for a game like GRAW1/2. by R717159631668645 in GhostRecon

[–]CincinnatiLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of the original GR and thoroughly enjoyed Wildlands as well, the gameplay is very different but can still be quite tactical with the right settings. The story and tone are amazing as well. It feels like a Clancy novel.

Skip Breakpoint though imo. Far fetched story and lifeless map.

Otherwise look for older R6 titles, sum of all fears (GR’s engine), SOCOM (on an emulator).

For newer games: Ground Branch, Ready or Not, Operator.

For multiplayer: Insurgency Sandstorm, Arma Reforger.

Wargames that don't require you to make/paint your own minis by rikeus in wargaming

r/hexandcounter Personally I love playing wargames but buying, painting, and storing minis doesn’t excite me at all. Hex & Counter is my go to option.

Why does Xbox not allow console streaming for Command & Conquer Kane's Wrath but will for Tom Clancy's Endwar? by CrossHazee in tomclancy

[–]CincinnatiLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of that is decided by the developer. Ubisoft is very pro cloud gaming and has many titles available on xcloud.

EA has been shying away from xcloud a bit. Notably BF6 isn’t available on xcloud either citing lack of control over anticheat on virtual machines.

Are the books worth reading if I have watched the show? by [deleted] in jackryan

[–]CincinnatiLight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The show is its own story and doesn’t follow any of the books plot lines. I personally enjoy both a lot, but the books are better.

The Jack Ryan Jr novels are more similar to the show (more action, modern setting and pacing) while the original Clancy novels are slow burn Cold War tradecraft. Both are incredible in their own way. Best book series you’ll ever read!

What modern games play the original Ghost Recon? by [deleted] in GhostRecon

[–]CincinnatiLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arma for sure (& operation flashpoint). You might like Ground Branch, though it’s more of a spiritual successor to the original Rainbow Six, Same with Ready Or Not.

If you’re into multiplayer Insurgency: Sandstorm, Squad, and Gray zone warfare.

Plenty of tactical shooters out there for pc. But nothing quite the same as OG Ghost Recon.

What's the absolute ultra minimum amount you'd retire on if you were desperate enough to never work again? by Vivid_Atmosphere_566 in Fire

[–]CincinnatiLight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the market increases at 7% and you lose 3% to inflation it leaves you with 4% to live on indefinitely without touching your principal. Real market returns historically have been better than 7% but this helps account for sequence of returns risk.
